Crowds after New Years

I am interested in visiting a DVC resort the week of Jan 1st. What are the crowds like after New Years? Are the parks crowded; and how about availability at resorts? TIA

I dont know abot the DVC resort crowds, but we were in WDW this past year the first week in January and the crowds were not bad at all. of course one day was a torrential downpour and then it was about 17 degrees for 3 days. LOL! Also--this past year the Disney Marathon was the weekend after new years so the crowds may have been a bit bigger with 20,000 runners and their families in town--next year the race is a week later so crowds should be less.

We usually go in January, and crowds really go down to nothing January 2. They do pick up the 4-5 days around the marathon, but are not bad. The best time is after the marathon.

The crowds are non-existant on January 2nd. It's amazing. January 1st(and the week prior) is bustling, yet the very next day it's a virtual ghost town. I stayed at the Yacht Club in 2000 and the parking lots went from being full to about 1/4 full. You'll have the run of the place that week. The only downside for us was that they immediately started to take down all of the holiday decorations that week.
