I just picked up a copy of The Unofficial Guide to Disney World 2005, and they had a new section with crowd projections for 2005. They are claiming that Sptember 22-28 the crowd intensity is going to be an 8 out of 10, while the rest of the month is around a 2 out of 10. Does anyone know of anything that is going on the last week of September that would cause these projections??? I have looked at all the events calendars and could find nothing going on this week to justify these projections. I have already taken off of work this week and am considering changing my dates if it is going to be this crowded. Please help!!

UPDATE!!!!!

I received an email from Len Testa at the Unofficial Guide and he is claiming that it was probably a typo from the second printing of the 2005 edition. I think this is also why some people that were posting said that their copies of 2005 edition had all 2's, because they probably had the correct first printing. Thanks everybody for pointing me in the right direction!!! :earsgirl:

Wow! I have alot of trouble getting reservations for that week, and have wondered why. I also looked at the calendar and could find nothing! I am not too sure if we will kept the ressies we have if it is going to be that busy! One of the reasons we are going is because we thought it would be SLOW!!!
YIKES!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We will be there from the 13-25. I wonder why it will be so busy?

We went last year from Sept 25th to Oct 1st and we walked on every ride. We are planning on returning this year, same time, because the crowds were so low last year. I can only hope that the book is wrong. If not I don't know if we want to go.

wow that is crazy!!!
I agree with the above poster, the site doesnt say anything like that at all! :confused3
we always go in september and the crowds are awesome! no lines! mostly walk on for all rides!
I cant imagine what would be going on that woudl make crowds jump that high?
anyone else know?
maybe the guy (sorry dont remember his name) that posts on here, from the unofficial guide (imho the wdw bible ... lol) will see this and add his two cents!

I would not change reservations without finding a valid reason for the predictions. Could be a typo where 8's were picked up from Dec 22-28 time period and placed in the Sept spot. Even a large convention should be easily absorbed in Sept and not produce 8's for crowd predictions. They can't ditch their meetings the whole time........

:crowded: :crowded: :crowded: :crowded:

We were at WDW from February 5 thru the 14, which they have listed as 3 & 4. What they, and we, didn't take into account was that the Superbowl was in Jacksonville that week and apparently everyone thought it was a great idea to combine the two trips. Animal Kingdom Lodge was at 100% capacity. The parks were swamped.... Not the nice off season visit we had expected! Certainly not a 3 or 4.

WE have been there the past five Septembers, usually right after labor day and we walked on to every ride, even dumbo. This year we were there for hurricane Frances, and I never saw the parks to empty. When we look at our pictures, there is no one in the back ground on some of them. I dont know why also the crowds might be heavy in late September, maybe there is a state with school vacation that early, or is there a religious holiday during that week. We are going in November this year because we are going with someone else, but in September I will be missing Disney, that is my time of the year to go. We never even need priority reservations for any dinner things that week, just walked right up, again it has been true for the past five SEptembers. Good luck.

I know many-a-programmer who would skip their entire conference in a heartbeat if it meant playtime in Disney.... and we're not talking the young'uns either :cool1:

I've been considering booking in the last week of Sept for DD's b-day, but if the crowds are supposed to be as big as they predict what would be the point of waiting? Hmmm.... Re-thinking my strategy now...

We went down last September from the 9th to the 14th and the crowds were super light! We had neighbors come down the 11th and stay through the 18th, and they said it picked up towards the end of their stay.

Len Testa is the guy you're looking for! Maybe if someone posts the question on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board he'll reply. I'm not sure how often he looks over here on the Resorts board, but he's answered quite a few questions for me over there.

We have been twice the last week of september into the first of October. In 2002 the parks were empty. But in 2004 there was a dental convention. It was busier than the time before but still managable. My sister in law who had went in June 2000 said it was still a much nicer trip even with the dental convention. I would double check before I changed my reservation.

It would have to be something pretty new that was changed in the revised edition. I thought the only changes in the revised edition had to do with MYW tickets, though. I've got the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2005 that I picked up around Christmas for my January trip and it lists those days as 2 for crowd levels. In fact the only days that aren't 2 in Sept is Sept 1-4 which range from a 3 to a 7.

Just a quickie update... i emailed lentesta... he got back to me saying he thinks that was probly a typo... he is going to ck into it for us and let us know!
But that was my assumption as well... cant imagine september having 8's!!!!
Lets keep our fingers crossed!
I will post as soon as I hear from him!
