I'm taking my mom to WDW Dec 9th-18th and wonder what the crowds and weather will be like. I'm assuming that since it's not the week of Christmas (but the week before) that crowds should be fairly light. Right?

I'm also taking my GD to WDW Jan 2nd-8th and was hoping that since it would be after New Years weekend that the crowds would be light, but now I'm hearing that alot of schools are going to be out until around Jan 6th. If so, what do you think the crowds will be like? I called at like 80 days out and was able to get all the ADRs I wanted (including CRT and PSB). I would also like to take her to a water park, but wonder if it will be warm enough? Do you think we would need the Fantasmic pkg or would we have a good chance of just walking in and finding good seats at that time of year? Thanks!

I can tell you that Orlando weather in the winter months is totally unpredictable. you could have days near 80 with cool mornings or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoon highs in the 40s. There's just no way to tell.

The two weeks you mention should be generally light for crowds, but crowds will start building around the 16th for Christmas and on January 2 there may be some leftover holiday crowds. I know some schools are out the week of January 2 but most schools through the country will be back in session that week.

Fantasmic is always crowded, so even if you don't do the FDP, you'll still have to allow yourself some time to get a seat.

Enjoy!

Dec. 9-18: Generally low crowds (start increasing about 12/15)
Jan. 2-8: Generally low crowds (start decreasing about the 4th)
Jan. 2-8: Weather (in the daytime) can be in the upper 60's thru the upper 80's. It varies every year.
(One of the major water parks is usually down for refurb in Jan. but the other one will be open.)

Fantasmic! should be "walk-in" size crowds (But I'd arrive 45 min. to an hour before showtime.)
