I totally forgot to look when it was posted a couple weeks ago. Does anyone have those numbers for Nov 28th-Dec 1st? (I'm hoping on the lower end of holiday craziness, especially since PTN is not playing any of our days. (Sad, but maybe a few more locals will stay home and come a different day when the parade is happening... wishful thinking?)

thanksgiving is early this year and the next two years, so that extra week of holidays comes back to Disneyland. So the week after will be very doable and maybe shorter hours.

We are going those dates as well and hoping the crowd predictions pan out! they are: 28th, DL 3, DCA 2, the 29th: DL 3, DCA 1, 30th: DL 2, DCA 2 and the 1st: DL 2, DCA 2. that's from touring plans

We're going that week too. I'm hoping for lower crowds, but still expecting it to be pretty busy because everyone wants to go when its quieter, which makes the expected quiet weeks not so quiet after all... Plus thats one of the weeks when pass holders are unblocked so there might be more locals going while they can, before the Christmas blockout period starts.

But that's okay because Disneyland is great whether its quiet or busy. Quiet = smaller queues and more rides. Busy = great atmosphere and more entertainment.

actually....for the last three years the perspective about Thanksgiving-Christmas is that it is super busy, so there will be a decrease in folks visiting, because who wants to visit a packed holiday Disneyland. Try this experiment at work, ask folks what is the numerical date of Thanksgiving, folks will give you all kinds of answers. Just like folks who don't celebrate Christmas till after Thanksgiving, why?

But I would like to address the myth that a quieter Disneyland has smaller queues, that is not true, the lines will still be long because staffing for the attractions is cut back and attractions that have removable vehicles will be loading fewer people, like jungle crusie, pirates, splash, Star Wars. What makes the environment quiet is the freedom of movement you have on the pathways and folks spread out, but by the middle of the day you will find yourself waiting. Also mornings are very empty and you will be surprised at the ease of the number of attractions in comparison to late afternoon and evening

Historically, the week after Thanksgiving has been low crowds.

When there has been a week after thanksgiving that fell in november, however, the last three years fell into december and that eliminated days from the calender and folks following the historical record were surprised at how crowded the week after had become. In 2019 there will be many complaints here on how crowded that week was after Thanksgivng. What is going to happen is that folks will post here for the next three holidays how Thanksgiving was great and the week after and even the first weeks in Dec, and boom, it comes even more crowded in 2019, starting again the myth that Thanksgiving is crowded and packed Thanksgiving can never be historically crowded, because it has no date, whereas Dec 18th thru the jan 1st, that will never change

Many of the "Historically" low crowd times, are just that.... HISTORY!!!

I fly down two or three times a year. I try to pick a time I feel will be slower in the parks.
As others have said in other threads, there are no real slow times anymore.

Now I book my trips according to the lowest room rates and airfares. Then I enjoy the parks with everyone else there at the same time.

I'll be there Dec 2nd through the 6th. So I hope the crowds thin out after the CP on the weekend.

Geemo

chickapin parterre, thanks for the heads up about the week after Thanksgiving in 2019.

Wow, I hope they're right! Thanks! (I will be hopefully, but aware that any of those days could randomly be very busy. I'm just hoping at least part of it will be slower and also that it won't be super cool the whole time, since my kids are excited about GRR and SM... :-)
Thanks for that explanation, too. It makes a lot of sense! We're planning to hit rope drop every day and make the most of our mornings, but even less crowded walkways will make a difference for us as we try to herd our 5 kids and double stroller. :-) We leave 2 weeks from today; I'm so excited!

Hope you have an amazing trip!!

Monday November 28th through Thursday December 1st is "Hey, its allright", but then we have Friday as Yup, its packed, and Saturday is Forget about it. Sunday goes back to being packed. AN then Monday through Thursday from the 5th through 8th is "alright".
How does this compares with Touring Plan predictions ?

We flew home last year on the Monday after thanksgiving the parks were quiet it was nice we got to ride everything we wanted to finish the trip

My trip for next year is the week before thanksgiving and a full week after thanksgiving
