Were thinking of going to US on oct 19-20 Sunday and Monday. Has anyone been there the week before Halloween? Is it busy enough to stay at Royal pacific or can we go a little cheaper and stay at cabana bay without express passes? I know with Diagon alley opening this changes all crowd estimations, but any advice would help.

I think you would be OK without EPs those days. Save a little money and stay at Cabana Bay...you'll still get early entry. Just remember on Sunday 10/19, the Studios will close at 5pm for Halloween Horror Nights set up. IOA will be open until 7pm that night.

I was there last year for the week of Halloween (26th-3rd nov) and we did not have express passes. Obviously like you said diagon alley may effect the crowds this year but when we were there last year it really was very very quiet! Most rides we walked straight on,to the point when we were on transformers my hubby and I had a car to ourselves as there were so few people going on to ride!

I feel we've been spoiled as this year we are attempting the last 2 weeks in August and I know our walk ons are a thing of the past! Enjoy!

thanks for replying...we decided to stay at Hard Rock. We miss that place so much. Last time we were there was for the opening of Hogsmead. Its really time to get back. lol

you'll have fun!!
IOA will be open to 8:00 pm on the 20th.
you'll have plenty of time to do a lot in both of the parks.
have no idea how the 2 potterhead rides in DA will take, but the rest should be fine with using the express lines.

you will see crowds starting in the afternoon 19th at the studios as many come early to hit rides before the park closes for HHN.

You'll have so much fun......and having EP whether you need it or not will be fantastic :thumbsup2

My son refuses to go if we dont have express pass. Cant tell you how many times we literally walked on most of those rides. This is the first full family trip since Hogsmead opened in 2010. Cant tell you how flippin excited we all are to get back there. 4 years is way to long. Thanks for all the advice.

We went in August last year so I can't speak to October, but man, we loved the express passes (we stayed at RPR). I would splurge on the pricier hotels to be able to walk on, or having significantly reduced waits. Our one regret was not getting to do Minion Mayhem a second time, but with a 30 min wait WITH to EP, we didn't want to wait. Talk about spoiled, lol.
