I am looking over the crowd data my travel agent sent for these dates, and if I am reading this correctly, she is showing a crowd level of 6 out of 10 for all parks on these dates. Does this sound correct? I was expecting it to be much more crowded.

Sounds about right. Keeping in mind a 6 is definitely not "empty" or uncrowded, but it's a pretty good level in my book! You'll still encounter lines at counter service restaurants, feeling full but certainly not impassable on the walkways, waits but not outrageous waits for all the rides.

I heard that summer 2016 crowds have been lighter than anticipated. Is this true? Is there a reason why?

Some theories I've seen: Strong dollar makes for rough conversion for international tourists; Brazil in particular has a struggling economy and visitors from there may be down; construction at WDW parks.

Following the Touring Plans site the last 3 days, they have predicted 8's at Magic Kingdom and after the fact are saying it has actually been 10's. I know June and early July were slower than expected, but it seems to have picked up again now. I really just don't believe there is any way to know what the crowds will be.

:faint: My Disney nightmare . . . Florida heat and level 10 crowds! I've been lucky to travel in spring and fall for a long time now, but with kids' school and activities, I'll have to deal with summer if I want a Mickey fix. This would ruin me for WDW!

Typical summer crowds are expected (especially at Magic Kingdom & Epcot) during the first 3 weeks of August. Magic Kingdom has already seen an increase in operating hours for most dates because of anticipated crowd levels.

start checking key wait times for major attractions (7DMR, PP, SM, TT, Soarin, TSM) at different days/times in the coming weeks and that should give you an idea of trends and typical summer crowd levels. Personally I would plan for and expect 8+ with most popular rides 60 min+ soon after parks open (and some getting to 120 min peak of day), if less when you arrive consider it a pleasant surprise and bonus!

My dates are right there with you. We are July31-Aug5. The past few weeks I have been checking the days we plan to be in that particular park and so far it doesn't look to bad. Hoping the trend continues.

Extra Magic Hours on the 3rd at MK are until 02:00 AM! How often does that happen? Sounds to me like they are planning on 20584020592047 people. How many visitors really stick around till 02:00 Eastern?

Not many. If you can stay, the two hours from 12-2 will be amazing! Just don't plan a rope drop for the next morning.

I can add that I decided just a few days ago to go to Magic Kingdom for one day on Sunday the 7th and was already able to snag a res at BOG. So that tells me crowds are not horrible.

We will be in Orlando July 30-Aug 6 and in the parks Aug 1-Aug 5. I'm seeing parks at 8-10 on Touring Plans. I anticipate it being pretty crowded--they just recently added hours to this week, which tells me they have the crowds booked to warrant it. And I'm betting hot. But, we live in Texas and our temps and humidity (I'm near Houston) are similar to Orlando, so I think we're used to that. ;)

We will be there Aug 5 - 19. We will,be in MK the 6th and 7th, which I would never have picked as our destination, because BTMRR closes after the 7th. I am not anticipating we will be able to do much on any headliner other than our FPs. Hall of Presidents, here we come!
