I know that this has been asked a million and a half times, but what exactly are the crouds in late August (specifically the 22-29). We have been there at that time before and it wasn't too bad, but I'm not sure if its changed. Thanks for any info!

Low. If you use a touring plan and TGM's best days you will have the run of the place. We went last August on the 24th -31 and with one exception never waited more than 5 minutes in line. Most of the time it was walk on or 1-2 minutes. (Our one long wait was for RnR and we had a fast pass and were in the front of the FP line with no one behid us. It still took almost 20 minutes! Possibly the worse fastpass implementation in the world.)

We have gone that time of year twice, in 2003 and 2005 and have found crowds quite manageable. Unlike Pedler's experience last year, however, we did sometimes encounter 40-60 minute waits for more popular rides by 2:00 in the afternoon. Since we have been and hopefully will continue to go to WDW many times(DVC members), we did not get in any of those lines. I agree though using TGM's plan def. helps so that you are not one of the ones waiting on those lines when they do occur. As many have posted here before, since many schools are back in session, you will notice a decrease in crowds from earlier summer weeks. As far as the summer goes, I would say it is the least crowded. Of course, we can not go the end of August this year so we are going the 4th of July week, which I am sure will be packed.

Good Luck :)

I've been there twice in late August, and found low crowds both times. Of course you know there are two reasons why it's less crowded, heat and humidity. :sunny: They are brutal. Keep yourself hydrated, and plan to do some indoor attractions in the hottest part of the day and you should have a good time.

I do not know what these guys are talking about, but I when I was there in late August last year and it was crazy, busy! Too many long lines, too many people, could not get any priority seating. My adivce to you, spend your money elsewhere and go somewhere else so you will be one less body I have to fight through when I go down again this late August.

Oh yeah what I mean by crazy-busy are waits being at most 30-45mins long! Oh-my, too busy for me to handle (that is why I am going down, the same time again this year!) ;) ;)

Metsfan11..I also sent you a PM.

We were there last August and with the exception of Labor Day weekend, the lines were pretty much non-existant. I think our longest line during our first 3 days was 30 minutes for Soarin and maybe 5 minutes for anything else. We rode Kali 3 times in a row without exiting and could have kept going but we were soaked! :teeth: We don't mind the heat so it is a perfect time for us and we can't wait to get there! :wave2:

Crowds are do-able, but Disney tries to pull them in with the free dining offer, or a few year ago they went with the "pay for four days, stay for seven" deal. It does up the crowds somewhat, but people are still leery about the hot weather and hurricanes, so if they can pick another time they will.

We like it! DH loves the whole "vacation in the tropics" feel of Florida in August. Just don't let the heat build up on you. Stroll, don't run, around the parks. Cut through air-conditioned stores as you go along to get a few minutes of relief. Drink tons of water. I bought one of the watering fans they sell all over the parks, and I carried it every day! You turn the fan on, then mist water through it. I loved it!
