Crossover stays with another family group - FP strategy

FYI for all involved: I didn’t think it would work for me but I tried anyway. Our 60 days started today, but our second group arrives 4 days later. Using thier account (or mine) doesn’t work because we’re both on packages. So in case anyone wonders, this trick only works if the later party has stand alone tickets it seems.

Which puts us back at square one where there’s no way our times (at least for popular rides) will line up. Oh well!

Yes, that’s the major drawback of booking FPs when all groups don’t have the same arrival date.

As stated many times, this only works if the later arrivals have separately linked tickets and have room-only stays.

Yup, I figured I’d try anyway. Not disappointed too much because I fully expected it to not work, but was hoping for some magic.

The Booking Windows post in the FP FAQ discusses this situation.

Correct, except the loophole that Hiro shared and that OP was able to use isn’t addressed in the sticky (that I saw at least), so I was hoping maybe Disney had added it recently and maybe done the same with packages as well. Alas, that’s not the case, so
I figured I’d report my findings for anyone who may have wondered the same. :)

The sticky does address it...the last line under the "60-Day booking window" eligibility list:

Guests linked to or listed on an onsite guest's MDX account (controlled by the onsite guest) and valid tickets linked.

I guess it doesn't address that the tickets must be valid for the days you want to book the FP, which would not include the days before a stay for package tickets.

The ‘function’ in question is that any onsite person with an open window can open the window for anyone who is also linked and has separately linked tickets. :)

This function works for booking for non-onsite people even if they need FPs for a different park than the onsite person.

Because the OP confirmed that this function does indeed work when the later arrivals have separately linked tickets, closing.
