Cross-stitcher check in! (all welcome, of course :) )

Very nice, Jipsy! Beautiful work.

Now, come on people, let's see if we can get some more pictures up. I am digging out my digital camera, and will try to figure out how to use it!!

I'll post some of mine once my internet starts staying up reliably. I think it's been up for 24 hours now (a record since Christmas  ) so we'll see if maybe they fixed the problem.

Hi everyone - I have not cross-stitched in years but like so many of you this may be the incentive I need to get back into it!! My grandmother taught me how to embroider when I was very young - bureau scarves. Where can I get the castle counter cross stitch kit?? Am leaving for WDW next Friday - would love to add that to me "need to get" list!!

Hi all, I've been cross stitching ever since I had insomnia while pregnant w/ DD ( which is about 5 yrs) I'm working on Cinderella running down the stairs w/ the clock strikng midnight. I got the counted pattern from a very nice woman who was nice enough to send it to me. I just within the last 1/2 hour received a phone call from a XStitch store in Arlington letting me know they just rec'd a pattern book w/ all disney princess patterns!! I've been waiting foir this book for a couple of months. I guess its brand new "hot off the presses". Its 11.50 and NOT available (at least so far) at Michaels or A.C. Moore which are both available around this area. So tomorrow its off to Arlington:bounce: :Pinkbounc If I could just say...If its not illegal  I think trading patterns is a great idea! Happy stitching alll! Kim

Oh, Brittsmum, what is the name of the princess book/who is the publisher???? Sounds like a great book to have, and would love to get one!

Thanks, Pat

Patabel, I sent you a PM. We have alot in common, we call the BWV's "home" also. I will post the name of the book and the manufacturer tomorrow. I'll be picking the book up in the AM. Kim

Hello!
I haven't visited these boards for quite a while and today I find that cross-stitching has been included, now that's something I know about! I think I was addicted to cross-stitching like some of you are to scrapbooking.
I have been cross-stitching for over 20 years and have done many, many projects. I mainly use linen (32 count over 2). I have not done any projects in a while, but have many patterns and linen to get started again. My best work is of a wolf (head) done so it looks like a painting and another of 3 different wolves (heads), also looks like a painting-if I do say so myself... Those I have kept for myself and had them framed.
I also like doing Amish pictures and carrousel horses. I have given away many projects as gifts. One especially I remember of a certain girl's name done with the alphabet and all done with a different Care Bear above each letter (that's dating myself...) I have done quite a few wedding samplers also, which meant adding certain names and dates-centering can be tricky.
I have an extensive collection of books and patterns. I am not artistic at all (cannot draw or paint), but cross-stitching makes me feel like I am.
I do not use a hoop (another question on this board) and I do mask my edges.
This thread might get me back into cross-stitching. (If my eyes will let me...) Thanks for sparking my interest again.

Hi all, for those interested in the Disney Princess Cross stitching pattern book, I picked it up this AM. Its great!! 22 projects for $11.50 at my "hole in the wall" stitch store. She said she would be glad to take outside orders but in the meantime I looked up www.leisurearts.com and they have it as a new release also for $11.50. there is Snow White, Jasmine, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Belle & Cindy. There are graphics w/ these patterns too. Alot cheaper than buying the "kit". Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks Brittsmum :)

What kind of patterns are in it? Are they simple "framed portraits", or scenes, or both?

Hey Rajah, they are color patterns (I hate those :( , always so hard for me to follow compared to the b/w ones) mostly framed patterns. Then they have graphics you can stitch on such as "fairest of them all"...Dear Diary Someday....Ready to make a splash, etc. You can make pillows etc out of it, (I'm not that talented though) ;) I thought it was well worth the 12.00. Of course, I don't have any princess books to compare it too either ;) , I'm still looking for Mulan and Pocahontas. I wonder if they will come out w/ more patterns whereas princesses are so popular now. Kim

What type of picture are you looking for for Mulan or Pocahontas? Anything specific? Or just *anything* using those characters

I started cross-stitching when I was a little girl. I took a class with my mom. I've done it off and on since then. I made a huge wedding/Christmas angels cross-stitch on linen when DH and I got married, and that burnt me out for several years. I've made a few smaller projects since. I recently finished a great one of a mother and baby giraffe for my mom (she collects giraffes) for Christmas. It was the first major cross stitch project I've done in a while. I have several kits/ patterns stored away that I would like to do some day. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. I have a great one of the Titanic on navy aida that I want to start on for my nephew this year either for his bday in Sept. or Christmas. I tend to spend most of my "crafty" time on scrapbooking, but cross-stitch is a nice break from that sometimes!

Take Care,
Candi
