The problem with these manufactured TV groups is there all Matt Monroe type crooners why not get a band together thats more cutting edge like The Manics or even Oasis who can play instruments and more importantly write songs,Fame Academy students great singers but the CD is like a glorified Karaoke outing!!!

....... I think that these people desperately need some decent original material instead of the same-sounding or even re-hashed pop songs that they churn out. ( Hearsay were made up of quite talented singers but they failed miserably in the material stakes and lack of originality with their choreography and clothes).

It also depends what audience you are playing to - the Popstar groups tend to appeal to younger children and cutting edge groups an older crowd.

Whilst I'm warming to the subject , I was gobsmacked at the lack of singing ability in the "Girls Aloud" group, except for one of them!!!!!!!!! They look good but when they sang live they were embarrassing!

I think this type of reality TV is on its way out.

I heard that Girls Aloud got the number 1 spot but with a much reduced volume than Will Young a year ago.

I would like to see the US version of Pop Idol. I saw clips of it and thought some of them were really funny. Especially when Simon told one of the hopefuls to sue her singing teacher ! !

Hmm, worryingly though, Janet quite likes Simon Cowell !? What is going on ?? Perhaps I ought to pull my trousers up higher ??
