Crocs-vs-Teva's, Which is better?

To mommykds:

I searched both www.tevas.com
and www.crocs.com

and have names of stores in my area. I have big feet and hate to buy anyting without trying them on. You can find store locations on both sites.

I love my Tevas. I wear them almost exclusively from Apr to Oct every year. And yes, I've worn them all day in Disney, no problems.

Regardless of which you choose: do yourself a big favor and break them in for a week or so before hitting WDW. A brand new pair of any shoes is going to be a problem.

I just bought my first pair of Teva's Mush Flip-flops (in Hawaii Wedgewood blue). It's been too cold to wear them yet, but I wore them for a few minutes and they seem to be very comfortable! They only come in half sizes, and these are a bit big, but the size down was too small, my heel was hanging off of the back. (They carry them at Dick's Sporting Goods, so I went out there to try them on. Poor color selection, but Hawaii Wedgewood was the color I had picked from the catalogue anyway, so that's what I bought.)
I'm going to WDW in August, and the thought of wearing socks and leather tennies was too much! Flip-flops all the way!

We just got back from a shopping trip to outfit the whole family with Teva's. I am sure Croc's are comfy but they are UGLY and clunky, sorry. I also have to wonder what they smell like at the end of the day. I am dissapointed that Teva changed their styling on the Pretty Rugged Leather's they also changed their sizing. I got some of the Pretty Rugged Canvas for DD, DH, DS10 and me. DS12 chose some neoprene style of somesort.

I have started wearing my beach style crocs on a daily basis, and I have to say that there is absolutely NO smell to them. I think to look at them, they look like hot, sticky plastic. But they aren't, it is like a foam and I don't sweat in them.

We went for 8 days in April and I wore my Crocs 7 and a half of those days. I tried my Keen's the one evening we went back to MGM for Fantasmic and didn't wear them again....they were ok, but just couldn't compare to the comfort of the Crocs (beach model here).

I will say that a couple of mornings when I woke up my feet felt pretty crappy (I do have a heel spur so that was what was acting up)...I found myself thinking..."Oh no...these crocs are supposed to get me through"...so I'd put them on and voila...within 4-5 minutes I'd be feeling better. Just give them a chance....

Trust me...I have lousy feet :confused3 but was very happy with my little 30 dollar Crocs!

Thanks AJKMOM!! I am in NY..never heard of these sandals but since so many DISers use them & find them comfy I want to give them a try.
Just have to find a style I like.

Teva.com has free shipping and 25% off with code TD04-Disc-25 (thanks to I forgot now from another teva thread!)

I bought my Mush flip flops at Famous Footwear for $17.99. Then I saw the discount thread and they would've been $15.00 online. Oh well, still far cheaper than other sites I checked out.

Have a pair of the knock-off crocs from Payless...Airwalk version...wore them on a 3 mile power walk and my feet were in Excellent condition! Even over gravel spots!

I have to echo dmslush - I wear my Niles & Beach models of Crocs all the time now & no sweat, no smell. However, I have had to deoderize my Teva's before several times.
The nice thing about Crocs is that you can soak them in a bucket of bleach water if you need to (read that on the website, haven't had to clean mine yet)

I just used the discount code that you posted. Between my Mom and I, we bought four pairs of the casual sandals (one Mush, one Kolina, one Ulani and one Olowahu)! All in all, the discount code saved us $22!!!  (Free shipping wasn't included in this offer though, although it is on some of the more expensive shoes if you order more than $75 worth. Our order was less than that.)

Thanks so much! :earsgirl: :wizard: :wave2:

I dont know what i am doing wrong but the code is not working for me.

I am putting in TDO4-Disc-25 in the claim code field

Boy, do you have good timing! I'm going to WDW May 13th-22nd. A couple of months ago I bought Teva Pretty Rugged Leather sandals, Teva Mush flip flops, and Teva Olowaha flip flops. I'm not a flip flop person. I never could stand the thingy between the toes, but the piece between the toes on both the Mush and Olowahus are both so soft and turned kinda sideways so they're very comfortable. I thought I had found the perfect shoes for my trip. I wore them everyday to walk my dog and everytime I went shopping to make sure they would be broken in for WDW. No break in time was really needed because they were comfortable from the time I first put them on.

Then I read the thread here about Crocs and just thought they were the ugliest shoes I had ever seen. Then about a month ago, while in the mall one day (wearing my Olowahu flip flops) I saw some Crocs at Hallmarks and some more at Wild Birds Unlimited. I had to try a pair on just to see what all the fuss was about. That may have been a mistake. I bought two pairs that day (a pair of the Beach style and a pair of the Nile sandals). I've started alternating them with my Tevas everyday and now can't decide which ones to carry to WDW. All five are so much more comfortable than any of my other shoes. I usually walk several miles per day, by the way.

If I had to pick only two pairs though it would probably be the Teva Mush flip flops and the Croc Nile sandals. Hey, the Mush flip flops were only $17.99 and the Croc Niles were only $29.99. For that price I would buy both and then decide. The only Tevas I've found that are uncomfortable are the Hurricanes. They're a cheaper model of the sandals and just don't have the support the Teva Pretty Rugged Leather sandals do.

By the way, the Niles don't make your feet look near as big as the Beach models in the Crocs.

I'm anxious to hear other people's replies to this thread, especially the ones who have worn both all day in the parks.

Hi aubriee,

Look for me on the KTTK tour with crcormier! I'm pretty sure we're all doing it on the 18th at 8:30 (found this out on the solos board). I'll be wearing either my ugly Beach Crocs or my not so ugly Niles!

Just got back...

The thing to do is to try some different shoes/models and see what works best for your feet.

To compare sandles... I could not wear Chaco's, as they have a major arch in them! (My DH wore his, all day at MK and at Discovery cove) He was impressed.

I ordered a pair of Teva Stratum's... The other posters are right... The cheaper ones, like the Hurricane's, are not the greatest.. I wore my Stratums at MK... and at Discovery Cove.

They were really good for a Sport-Sandle. They have a nicer footbed in them, and more support, than some other Teva's.

Now, of course, they don't quite compare to my good pair of NIke AirWalks with socks... But, the good thing is, we got caught in a real rain storm at MK, and got soaked!!! Both my Teva's and my Husbands Chaco's were fine. Just kept going... Didn't matter at all that they had gotten wet. And DH never took off his Chaco's at Discovery Cove, in and out of the water. That is the beauty of a water capable sport sandle!

Just ordered a pair of Pretty Rugged Sandles for me and Mush Flip-flops for DH with the discount code, thanks a lot to the poster who posted it! :wave2:

ita. much like when you are purchasing running/walking shoes, different brands work better for different people. tevas always give me blisters, but obviously for some people they work really well. i think you just need to experiment until you find something that works for you.

I don't think the discount code is good anymore, but if you order the Teva's through Amazon.com, there is free shipping!

Brooke - It looks like you're typing an "O" instead of a zero...I entered the code both yesterday and today and it worked fine. And I doubt this would make a difference but I entered Disc as all capitals. I think I read on another thread that that code is good through 5/31.

Ok. I think I finally have this Teva discount figured out. It is a zero rather than a letter 'O' and if you order more than $75 worth, it's free shipping! That makes the Mush sandals (as well as several others) only $15 each (so I had to order multiple pairs! :rolleyes1 )! I am going to be *soooo* stylin' in WDW!!!
 :cheer2: :cool1: :Pinkbounc

I vote for Teva's too, Pretty Rugged leather to be exact. I think the crocs are too sweaty and it doesn't come in enough sizes. Crocs are also slippery when wet!

It also can depend on which Teva sandals you are comparing them to. My Pretty Ruggeds have lots of cushioning and shock absorption but not all Teva's do.

IMHO.
Is it ok for the leather PR Teva's to get wet? I am THISCLOSE to buying these :cool1: THanks!
