Are Crocs better than the cheaper knock-offs that are out there? My kids have never complained about any discomfort in the fake crocs, but they do seem to wear out pretty quickly, and my daughter has broken the straps off of 2. Can anyone give me a reason to pay almost twice as much for the real thing?

Have you tried the Airwalk brand from Payless? That is all I buy, and my two pair have made it thru two trips to the world now. DD's love them and wear them almost year round, weather permitting. I think they are just as good, quality and comfort wise, as the real thing. HTH!

I work 12 hour shifts on my feet in a hospital. I have 4 pairs of original Crocs, and have tried the knock offs and they dont even compare! The originals are the way to go! I havent worn them to the world yet because I started wearing them after we went 2 years ago, but will find out in 3 weeks!!!:yay:

The walmart ones are hard and not good at all. My dd11 has had 3 different brands. The first ones were skechers. They lasted a while and she loved them. The next ones were the Airwalk from payless. She broke the straps off, but didn't use them anyway so no big deal. She liked them and they lasted. She now has the disney crocs and they are her favorite. All of the kids except ds16 have them and they live in them. Other than dd4 writing on hers in ink (anyone know how to get that off) they all still look great almost 6 months later. dh even bought a pair of disney crocs after slipping dd's on to get the mail one day. I have just ordered a pair of mary janes from shoebuy.

Oh, btw, if you decide to try the airwalks at payless, AAA offers a discount there. Not all employees know this though. Just show your card and tell them it is a 10% discount. They may have to ask a manager though.

The proper Crocs are so cheap i can't see the point in buying snides which aren't much cheaper anyway. Proper Crocs are £20 whereas snides are about £15.

What are expensive are the badges my daughter has in her's (they've got a proper name but i can't remember it).

Cost £20 for the Crocs and £10 for the PLuto and Mickey Mouse badges to go in the holes.

I have bought "fake" crocs at a few places and the only place that I like them from is Payless. The ones at Payless hold up very well and my daughter's both say they are very comfortable.

Have you tried washing them in the washer to get the ink off? If not try that, they come out amazingly clean, looking brand new in fact, just don't stick them in the dryer. :)

If that doesn't work, use hairspray, the cheaper the better on the ink, it should come out with that.

I have only had the airwalk shoes but I just ordered my first pair of real crocs, I got a pair of the pink/pearl Disney crocs, I also got my DD the same pair so we can match. :) I can't wait until they get here later this week!

Hope that helps!

While I haven't bought any of my own yet, I compared my knock-offs to the nurse's Crocs while DH was in recovery after surgery this summer. Hers were much softer and seemed to have more arch support. That convinced me! I'm ordering a pair of the real thing as mine are not comfortable for long periods of wear-my feet start hurting like they do after wearing flip-flops.:thumbsup2

I have 4 pairs of crocs. DS5 has 2 and DH has 1 pair. We all love them and wouldn't dream of buying the knock offs. The price difference just isn't worth it. Crocs are the only thing I know I can wear in the park for 12 hours and not be complaining that my feet hurt. I love them so much I pleaded with my manager at work and hunted down a brand new version so that I can wear them to work.:snooty:

DH and I live in our crocs. I have a pair of frocks from Walmart but they aren't nearly as comfy. I had the WM ones first and thought they were nice until I bought my Disney crocs. DH has back problems and after our first day at the parks his legs and back were killing him. He bought a pair of crocs and he felt so much better with in half an hour. He sounded disappointed the other day when he told me he wouldn't get to wear them all winter. DH is not a frou frou guy either, he just likes the comfort of the shoes.

Use rubbing alcohol to get the ink out. Just pour it on, wipe and rinse. Cheaper than hairspray and not sticky.

Thanks for all of the replies. I think it will be worth the extra money to ensure that the kids feet are comfy on the Disney trip. I tried some Crocs on recently but they didn't feel very comfortable to me; after reading all of the good things about them, I think I'm going to give it another try, though.

My DD had the Payless ones last year, wore them all summer, then wore them to Disney and the first day it rained she fell all over the place. The tread was completely worn off the bottom. I'll never buy fakes again. She has real ones now and the tread is still holding up.

Another vote for the real crocs. They are better than the frocs. Even my kids will tell you the crocs feel better - at 6 & 8 even they can tell the difference. I bought them the croclings with the neoprene that holds then on thier feet. This style is great for them and they have disney themed croclings - cinderella, ariel, and two mickeys. You have to order them through crocs site.

I vote for the real Crocs. We have some of the knock-off Mary Jane style and even though they are cute they rubbed blisters on the girls. When we went to Disney World this year all the family wore (me especially) nothing but Crocs and our feet never hurt one time. Now my legs where a different story.:goodvibes I am a off-brand girl but not when it comes to Crocs.

I really wanted Crocs for our trip to Disney this November, but my foot slid forward until my toes hit the front in every pair I tried on. Eventually I bought the Nile Style Crocs, which are open-toed. I do like them, but I recently tried the Gekko's, which I like better. My foot doesn't slide forward and they are COMFY!!! About $10-$15 cheaper, too. Here's a website if anyone is interested: www.awholelottastuff.ca/footwear.htm

I've had my crocs for a year and have worn them almost daily!!! LOVE crocs- worth the money in mho.

Both DDs (7 and 2) have had the Payless Airwalks (I call them Mocks!). DD7 wore hers around WDW with no complaints. DD2 doesn't wear hers as much mainly because they frustrate me (they just come off too easily), but she has no complaints (even though she consistently wears them on the wrong feet). I recently had to buy new ones for DD7 because she outgrew them. That being said, if it were my feet, I would probably splurge on the Crocs. DH has the Crocs.

I only wear the authentic Crocs. I LOVE them!!!! Granted I have never worn the not real ones but I've heard a lot of complaints about them so I just stuck to the real thing. My DS loves his and I'm about to buy him some new ones. I just ordered myself some NFL Crocs with my favorite team - the Indianapolis Colts! Can't wait to get them and add them to my collection. They are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn - next to the Cole Haan's I wear a lot too.

Don't get me wrong -- we love our Crocs. However, my dh's Crocs that he bought just two weeks before our 10 days at WDW were SERIOUSLY worn on the bottoms by the end of our trip. I'm sure the very hot temperatures during our July stay contributed to this. Also, one strap kept coming disconnected from one of my dd's brand new Crocs by the end of the same trip. The rubber part of the shoe (not the strap) has stretched and torn around where the button/rivet/whatever-the-heck-it-is connects the strap with the shoe. Dd was not at all hard on her shoes. Younger ds, on the other hand, has been very hard on his Crocs; and they barely show any wear at all--just scuffed toes, which don't really count at all in my book.

being medically discharged from the military with back problems, the only shoes besides my Wolverine work boots and my Nike crosstrainers that DO NOT hurt my feet, legs, or back are my Nebraska Cornhusker Crocs....well worth the cost....
