Crocs - Oh My Word!!!!!!!

Ok so you all talked me into them. I went out and got a pair today. They are super light. I think I need to try them with socks because I wore them around the mall and wally world (pre-trip) supplies and I already have a hot spot on the bottom of one of my toes. :(

I am going to keep trying to get my feet used to them. Only 8 days to go!! :yay:

Are they made out of rubber? Don't your feet sweat in there?

My feet sweat a LOT but they aren't so bad in these. They are amazing shoes!!!

I bought a Crocs generic at Walgreens. The name brand is Copa Sports. They are comfortable and only $9. Can't compare them to the real crocs as I'm too cheap to buy them.

We just got back from a week in Disney on May 13th. I wore my crocs without socks during the day and in the evenings I would put on a pair of ankle socks and wear them with socks. The only hot spot I got was on the top of my foot where the arc of the shoe rubbed a little. Bring moleskin. It is a lifesaver. The Payless version (Airwalks) feel like the exact same shoe as the crocs, but do NOT buy the WalMart or Target ones because those just LOOK like crocs/airwalks and feel NOTHING like them. They are made of cheap hard plastic and I bet your feet would sweat like crazy in them. I had no problems at all with my feet sweating and it was HOT most of the day. Just don't forget the moleskin. My daughter had some trouble with blisters around her ankle bone with her crocs, but the moleskin took care of it and she had no problems. She and I wore ours every single day. Did not wear any other shoes the whole time we were there. Have a great time!

I have plantar fasciatis (think tennis elbow/tendonitis but in your foot...OUCH!) and no matter what shoes I wore my feet were killing me by mid day. Crocs were SO much better! I still had foot pain, but NOTHING like what I've had in the past.

Socks - sometimes. Usually just bare foot. I did get a bad hot spot on the ball of both feet when I was wearing socks and DH decided to run a race to get to the car after Fantasmic. I don't know if socks caused it - or if they prevented it from being worse. That was the only problem I had with them. The rest of the trip we just took it nice and easy.

Here's the funny part. I had mine for about 2 months before our trip and DH kept making fun of them. Then he started asking questions. Then he actually said he'd wear them for WDW, but not in "real life".

Guess what he said the other day (after wearing them every day for 10 days at WDW)... My tennis shoes are heavy and hurt the tops of my feet. :rotfl2: So he went from a 'no way, no how' attitude to a 'do I really have to wear my regular shoes to work now?' attitude.

Warning - they DO get slick when the tread starts to wear down. Having worn mine almost daily for 2 months before the trip, I fell at Epcot near a fountain that was spraying the ground. DH (with his newer crocs) didn't slip at all when we walked past the fountain.

That goes along with what they say on their web-site:

4.) Non-marking slip-resistant soles*

* just like a performance tire, when the treads become worn, their slip-resistant nature will be compromised. That's when you know it's time to treat your feet to a new pair.

I bought myself and my DD a pair each of the Airwalks knock offs from Payless before our trip last summer, and, not only did we have no trouble whatsoever with our feet our whole trip (although DH did with his sneakers), but I have worn them pretty much non-stop around the house all winter. When the temp. finally got above freezing I started wearing them everywhere again with socks, and now without socks now that it is warmer.

In WDW I really had much LESS problem with sweating and foot odor than with regular shoes. I even got my SIL hooked on them and also some friends.

My shoes are quite big, but in the next size down (although they looked better on) my toes touched the end of the shoe and I knew this would bug me. Although my feet "float" in them, I have never had a problem, and they don't fall off me without the straps on. I always wear them as clogs.

I have tried on Crocs brach style, and they actually seem to fit a little more snugly. They did feel a little stiffer to me too, but that is probably is just because both brands mold to your feet and fit better as they warm to your feet. I did, however spend the money on the Crocs Athens thong style sandals, and they are great. I find that the comfort as far as the cushioning is about the same between my Airwalks and the Crocs Athens.

I love my airwalks, and will need to invest in another pair, since mine are getting very worn on the bottom!

I think my Airwalks are the absolutely BEST thing that I have learned from participating in this board! As you can probably tell by the length of the post!!! :cool1:

I saw lots of people - but mostly kids - wearing crocs at the world on our last trip the beginning of may.

They do not look comfortable. I tried on a pair at a store once and they did not feel comfortable.

I do not understand.
I love mine. They are about the color of the pink Minnie shoes on your siggie. Actually maybe they are the pink Minnie shoes. :lmao: I think they are comfortable. I have fascitis and regular shoes just are not comfy for all the standing and walking in WDW. But no one else in my family would be caught dead in em.

I've got:

basic black (in metros, niles & beach)

red (caymen)

violet (caymen)

Red are my new favorites. The violet ones look like giant Easter eggs.:)

Will say I wore out my 1st pair of beach's in less than a year...they do get slippery when the tread starts to wear.

Next!

This thread is INSANE!

One of my girlfrieds swears by these things, but I have to agree with LoveMickey and PoohBear, they are BUTT-UGLY!

This is like the old saying, "You have to learn to like the taste of beer." WHAT? That's crazy logic too!

So you should try on the "butt-ugly" shoes and once you see how comfortable they are, you'll swear by them?! You guys are all crazy! This is one fashion craze I think I'll skip! :teeth:

(Just pickin' on you guys! :cool1: )

I had asked this question in another post - was your daughters problem area where the strap meets the clog - by the croc button? When I tried a pair on - it seemed that that spot might cause a blister...

I wore my new crocs to work one day just to bug a co-worker of mine who thinks that they are hideous! They feel like you are wearing houseslippers all day long! Very Comfortable. Not a tight fitting and has just enough cushioning to make them absorb some of the shock when you walk. We'll have to see how they work all week at WDW.

I have the bright orange and grey, wore them to work, it caused a big ruckus and now they are BANNED!
3 of us bought them, we wear them in, change shoes, and wear them back out. what an office ruckus it was!
I love them. can hardly wait to wear them at the mouse house. (i wear them with socks, ugly or not)

I don't understand how the shoes are banned??? They are closed toe, what kind of work is it?

regular office work- but of course, someone complained that they were not approriate and others thougth they were :rotfl2: gardening shoes, henceforth, the ban. I was really bummed, but i still wear them in and out, so do get to wear them.
