Crocs Caution!

I know some people need shoes like them; diabetics, people who are overweight ect. Though I would hope you would chose the black or another natural color and not Lime Green or Neon Red or Pink. I can even see kids (below 10) wearing them because of the fun and crazy colors.

It's not about being thin or even being a woman, you brought that up. I if you like them, great, more power too you. If you need them, I wouldnt say anything negative about them.
But YOU brought up "need", and then you decided who needs Crocs in your opinion. So all these posters detailing healthy Croc-wearers (i.e. not "needing" them as defined by you) are simply responding to - and okay, refuting - you.

Why are you so offensive about me not liking the color of Crocs you wear? I think of them as working shoes. I dont consider them shoes that you go out and about it. I dont believe it is any of your business? End of story.
Which are they? Working shoes? And for whom? Or medical-need shoes? I DO consider them shoes to go out and about in. I don't believe that is any of your business. End of story.

grumpalina - thank you for the link! There's a location at the mall less than two miles from me (and six miles from there, and twelve miles in the other direction, and the one closest to where I work - apparently, I don't have an excuse NOT to recycle my Crocs!)

goofy4tink and pampam - thanks for the suggestion to wear old ones indoors, as slippers... even though I first read it two hours AFTER I stubbed three toes on my right foot on a chair that's been in the same exact place for five years...

My foot Dr LOVES that people wear crocs- he says a few years down the road they will ALL be coming to him needing foot care due to wearing those things!:rotfl: :rotfl:

they're recyclable. that doesn't mean that everyone who wears them will recycle them, but the option is there. we'll be dropping off a few worn out pairs soon.

What an awesome link!!! Thank you for that!! :cool1:

I have heard that someone put bathtub decels on the sole of their worn out crocs to stop them from slipping. Has anyone tried this? Will it work? I just wear my older crocs inside for slippers.

I have never heard of this before. Guess it could work!! I'd be interested to know if anyone has tried it!!

Really? So crocs are bad for your feet? Never knew that. But then again I don't were them.

Thanks!

I didn't read the 6 pages of debate over Crocs or whatever, but on the topic of the original post... the tread on Crocs wears down very quickly and the shoes became very slippery. Not just at Disney. I slipped (embarassingly - in the middle of the Michigan Avenue bridge in downtown Chicago) and hurt my knee pretty bad. While at Disney this month, I was wearing my Crocs Mary Janes - which aren't even that worn down - and nearly fell a couple times. They seem to go from safe to not safe almost overnight.

Is there something I don't get here or is this completely unrelated to both crocs and WDW? :)

I have nothing of value to add to the Croc debate. I don't wear them, nor do I intend to anytime soon.

However, I was THRILLED to find out that LA ranks lower than the national average in

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Los Angeles. . . . . National
Forcible Rape: . . . . . . . . . 27.3 . . . . . . . . 32.2
Burglary: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 524.8 . . . . . . . 813.2

and
Larceny Theft:. . . . . . . . . 1539.2 . . . . . . 2601.7

w00t!

Carry on.

Some experts say crocs're good, some say they're bad. It also depends on your feet. Though, I think in most cases the best thing for walking around WDW all day is Nike Air-style sneakers.

Really? So crocs are bad for your feet? Never knew that. But then again I don't were them.

Thanks!

I was trying to figure this out too. I mean, I know heely's screw up your feet/posture pretty badly, that's obvious by how you have to position yourself to use them.

But I walk the same way in crocs as I do in any other sandal, they're just more comfy to me. Maybe it is just the beach crocs that make you walk funny?

crocs are horrible...they aren't meant for walking in
I disagree, I think Crocs are the most comfortable shoes ever. They're the only ones that don't give my feet blisters after walking around all day in the parks.

Yes I can. Live and let live, let people wear what they want long as they're not harming anyone :)

Can you honestly name someone you know who just tried them on and loved the look and feel of them who is not diabetic, overweight, has any history of foot problems, or is a child?

I find the neon green crocs nauseating and obnoxious. I can put up with the pink and red, I may not find them age appropriate, but I can at least stomach it. The neon green is just disgusting, I dont care if it's crocs, a backpack, a room, a chair I just hate that color. The black, blue and white are fine. The multi colored flip-flops are nice with the white and red/orange. and the high sandals look good too.

In case I didnt make this clear I am talking about the classic crocks and the tacky ones(the bootish ones that are 3 diffrent colors and camouflaged), not the wedgies, flip flops, high heels or sandals. Those dont look bad at all.

I'm not sure how my name got attributed to that post (the one above it blue). It was actually the other poster who was arguing with me that posted that. Hmm, interesting.

I am an LLBean crock-aholic.

Regular crock's did not give my ankle the support it needed following an accident so I tried on the LLBean version.

There is a bit of a heal so it's more comfortable for my 53 year old legs AND they fit far better on my foot (do not slide around).

I am taking a pair in 17 days to DL as one of my substitutes for my regular Ryka walking shoes (I am very foot-safe because I am a diabetic).

The best news right now......these little crock-wanna-be's at LLBean are 1/2 price because it's the end of summer!!! WOO HOO $12.95 !!!!!

I have my Mickey and Princess jibbitz in them and I'm ready to go!!

I've never tried the LL Bean version. Too bad I didn't know about them before now--at $13, I could have bought myself and my mom a new pair too!! ;-)

Like flip-flops, crocs are just not for walking all day. You should wear something that wont slip on wet pavement or come off easily (flip-flops). Wearing crocs around the house, for doing yard work, walking the dog, ect is fine. I would not use them to walk the parks though.

I guess that's why I noticed just about ALL the crew of the Pride of Baltimore wearing crocs. That's when I finally decided to give them a try! They walk on wet decks OFFSHORE!

Also it is best not to make yourself stand out as a tourist. Orlando's crime rates are high and wearing crocs and fannypacks send off a red flag.

This is funny. Do you know how American tourists are identified in Europe....by our TENNIS shoes!!!

Yeah, I know they are ugly, but I don't give carp. They are the only shoes I'll wear to WDW or do any long walks in. But the OP is correct, PLEASE make sure the tread is not worn off. Crocs were originally boat shoes and can handle wet surfaces easily. Once the tread is gone they are very slick. I fell and hurt my knee once. My friend fell the exact same way while at Magic Kingdom.

I dont see the need to fight over anything.

I know some people need shoes like them; diabetics, people who are overweight ect. Though I would hope you would chose the black or another natural color and not Lime Green or Neon Red or Pink. I can even see kids (below 10) wearing them because of the fun and crazy colors.

I never made fun of them, unless you are referring to the part of my post about Uggs. If so I find that hypocritical to say that Uggs are ugly and Crocs are not. You can not say that 1 of the most hated shoe is not as ugly as another. If I made fun of them in any other way please point it out.

As for the post about crime rates, though they can be deceiving they are also very true in my experience. In 1 city my mother was threatened with rape at knife point, our house was broken into, neighbors lawn furniture was stolen, a gang shooting down a few blocks and got in a car accident because someone was speeding. The crime rates there matched what we got and we were out of there as fast as possible.

To the people who cant figure out what I mean by "standing out"- I dont know if you people know this but WDW is in Orlando, Orlando is in Florida, People IN Florida can drive to and from. I personally dont consider these people as tourists because they live close by. I love picking out the people who I know are tourists because they stand out so much from the usual Floridian.
A few things....everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You are most certainly entitled to yours. My dh wears Crocs...has had about 3 pair in the last few years. My dd, now almost 15, loves hers. She and I have some of the most outrageous colors out there. In fact, I leave my lime green Crocs in my Owners Locker...use them only in WDW!!!
But, I have to say...I see people in Crocs everywhere. I see them around my little central Mass town, I see them in Boston. I see them in NYC, I see them in Tampa when visiting my ds. I see them in southeastern Florida when visiting my dad...not a ton of young folks in Pompano Beach, but I still see the ugly Croc feet!

Can you honestly name someone you know who just tried them on and loved the look and feel of them who is not diabetic, overweight, has any history of foot problems, or is a child?

Again...you are entitled to your opinion. You don't have to like the shoes, you don't have to like the colors. But, just because you don't like the lime green, doesn't mean that I don't get to wear them! Out there? Sure are, but I don't really care. I can not wear anything between my toes...so any flip-flop type shoe, Croc or not, is not going to be wearable for more than a few hours for me. Looks like I'm stuck with ugly feet.
And the UGGS? Well, I think they're pretty ugle as well. But, my dd swears by them all winter long. Now, her feet are hugely stinky when she wears them but as long as she keeps her feet away from me after taking the UGGs off, fine.
I don't see what the big deal is...if you like to wear them, and are fine with having 'large, clown-like' feet, so what? Nobody is forcing anyone else to wear them. I'm okay with my clown feet. Sorry if that annoys anyone else out there, but heck, they're my feet. My feet are comfy in them, I'm not crippled at the end of a day. What possible difference could it make to anyone else what I have on my feet!!

My foot Dr LOVES that people wear crocs- he says a few years down the road they will ALL be coming to him needing foot care due to wearing those things!:rotfl: :rotfl:
My podiatrist had no big issues with my Crocs. In fact, he said my particular feet would most likely do better in them. I've been wearing Crocs for about 3 years now...nothing bad has happened. My feet are still more comfy in Crocs than any other shoe I have. Even my chiropractor likes them. As does my internist. Many professionals are wearing them.

My only issue??? I hate the static electricity I get in the dry, cold months!! Ouwie!!!

If I may change the subject slightly. I wore some of the Croc sandals while at disney and the were really comfortable but when i got home my heels hurt badly for about 10 days. I wore them again and stood at a baseball game on pavement for an hour and a half or so. Heel pain again. Anyone else have this experience? I hate it because they are really very comfortable.

LOL . . . DD4 said . . . "Mommy I do not wear rubber shoes!" She is my little fashionista. ;) I will not wear the clog looking ones but I do not mind the flip flops at all. We are going to WDW in two weeks and I think I might get a new pair of flippies.
