Crocs Caution!

Be careful at the parks in the rain no matter what you are wearing. I left MK in a wheelchair last night. We were in the FP line for Space Mountain and next thing I know I'm lying on my back in a puddle of water with my leg twisted under me. Today I'm stuck inside with a goose egg sticking out of my ankle. DH was shocked that nobody stopped to help. People in line just stepped over me. No CM helped us either, but we were given complementary use of the wheelchair so I could get back out to my car after my leg was iced at first aid.

I wear the Crocs flip flops (athens) sometimes at Disney. Or sneakers. Sometimes Timberland boots.
Doesn't change anything for me, I end up plummeting to my death several times a day anyhow. It's my thing.

IMO Crocs aren't that ugly, but I'd sure like to know why WDW only sells the Mickey flip flops Crocs in that pukey orange/army green combo.

:scared1: Yikes !!! Sorry that happened to you. A CM should have been there to help. Are you still in WDW ? I would contact guest services. Not to make a fuss, but just to let them know what happened.

Like flip-flops, crocs are just not for walking all day. . . . I would not use them to walk the parks though.

I wish I had known this before my DW, DD, and myself all spent several days walking all day in our crocs.:lmao:They are wonderfully comfortable and I certainly did not feel any more like a tourist in them than when I wore my New Balance tennis shoes which are also incredibly comfortable. Also, many nurses and others wear them all day standing for many many hours a day. As a matter of fact, it was my doctor and his nurse that first recommended crocs to me as an alternative to my NB shoes so if they fit and are comfortable to you, I think they are fine to wear (even if they are ugly).

Also it is best not to make yourself stand out as a tourist. Orlando's crime rates are high and wearing crocs and fannypacks send off a red flag.

Yeah, and the Mickey ears aren't a dead give away? Sorry...but that's really a funny statement. Yes, I'm sure crime is high, but I wear crocs probably 350 days a year, and I've yet to be mugged anywhere, including the month I spent living OFFsite near WDW in Jan/Feb, just me and two young girls. SO it must be the fanny pack that attracts that red flag (I only carry mine INSIDE the park).

Not made for walking all day in? Are you crazy?

My first commando style trip I wore my very comfortable shoes, and by day 3 I had a big blister on one foot. Before the trip was over, I had an additional 2 on the other foot.

Last year we went commando style again, but this time gave crocs a try. Not one sore or blister, and my feet were never sore the entire trip. I even wear socks with mine to make it look even more ridiculous, but I don't care... my level of comfort in the parks far outweighs being fashionable.

And like the OP said, yes old crocs get very slick. Really any shoes with little tread left can be like ice skates. I just got a fresh pair of crocs for my trip in  2 days!!

Having almost fallen on my butt about 3 times walking in my year and a half old crocs in the subway station with the wet floor, I realize I should probably pick up a new pair before I wear them around Disney...

I purchased a pair of Nike shox last year for WDW. My sister bought Crocs upon arrival. My feet hurt, so she said she would switch shoes with me for the day. I loved her crocs so much I went and bought my own. I love walking in my crocs.:woohoo:

Really? I'm surprised. I haven't tried crocs but I wear my Nike running shoes at WDW and was very comfortable.

For those that think Crocs are ugly--I'm not sure you'd like these any better...But our whole family loves Keen sport sandals. They're supportive & comfortable and very cushy. Much more expensive than crocs but they do last a long time--DH's are just showing wear after many years. They make them for men, women & children and different styles/colors.

I love my Crocs too but they are like skates when it's wet! I just broke down yesterday and bought a new pair. These are truly hideous in "mango". Looks like I have bright yellow clown shoes on my feet! :lmao:

I won't wear anything but Crocs to WDW. I tried really comfortable tennis shoes last year and had a lot of blisters the first day. I switched to Crocs the next day and they were like a miracle. No new blisters and the old ones healed nicely by the end of the trip.

Heck, I love Crocs so much I even got married last month in Crocs Adaras. :teeth:

I could never bear to try on much less buy a pair of rubber shoes. They are just so hideous :scared: Id rather suffer the conseqeunces of not wearing them:upsidedow

Ofcourse, with them being so wildly popular, I know my opinion may not be a popular one, but to each his own. I'll stick with my sneakers:goodvibes

Hi
Crocs have come out with some really cute styles. They're not hideous anymore!! I just got two pairs of the Adaras and my DD has the Patras. They're not the big rubbery style that you're thinking of. I wore my Crocs all last week in DW and my feet felt great. I used to get blisters everytime I'd wear my New Balance sneakers, but with Crocs, no blisters. I have the Croc Scutes and they're not the cutest crocs, but they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

ME TOO! I am getting married next month and wearing Pearl colored Mary Janes. I am only bringing crocs to WDW.
I also wear crocs pretty much every day of the year. The Caymen are my favorite.

Crocs have changed my life! I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and a bad achilles tendon. I spent most of my day in pain from one or the other, even with meds. But, since I've worn crocs, I can walk for hours. I went shopping yesterday for 2 hours on my feet, plus wore them around the house all day. Last night I slept without the pain that usually wakes me up in the middle of the night. I bought some to try out for our trip, and I'm now addicted. I'm ready to throw away every other pair of shoes.

They may not be stylish, but I'd rather look goofy and feel good.

I actually wear crocs everyday...i work in a resturant and bought the black non slip crocs and they are UGLYYYY but they keep my feet from hurting, for our trip this year im brining the new LIME GREEN one's i bought that i've broken in and my black one's just incase the green one's dont work as well as the black one's i might bring my tennis shoes but i doubt it

Sorry--somehow Posted In An Open Thread When I Wanted To Start A Thread.

I'm Losing My Ever-loving Mind!!!

I just ordered new Crocs for me & DD this week for our trip this October.

Another warning about Crocs - - one of my co-workers was wearing her Crocs in her house in a carpeted room and when she turned to walk out of the room her foot didn't turn with the rest of her leg because the Crocs treads 'caught' on the carpet. She really hurt her knee and had to have surgery.

Too cool! Those will look pretty - well sort of - better than orange ones anyway! ;)

May I suggest Keen H2O shoes? They are comfortable, secure, waterproof and dry rather quickly when wet. Poly or leather. When you return from WDW they are great for beach and hiking.

I swear there is something wrong with me. I bought a pair of Crocs based on my knee surgeon's recommendation last summer. He said they would be better for my knee rather then flip flops and sandals. After four major reconstructions I was willing to try anything.
I did not think they were comfortable at all. I can't imagine wearing them all day anywhere, let alone WDW.

My kids and my husband swear by them though. DH has the rugged off road ones. He never wears anything but boat shoes or his New Balance sneakers. He loves his Crocs. My kids do not wear anything but Crocs all summer. My boys wore theirs around WDW in September while we were there and they said they were really comfy.

So, I guess I am truly an oddball.:upsidedow

Places where I have discovered I need new Crocs at WDW: the old queue in Space Mountain (back when the metal wasn't rubberized), the small incline coming out of Winnie the Pooh -- Blue crocs(Feb 2005 or 06), Bridge between Boardwalk and Swan/Dolphin yellow crocs--(July 2007), and Covered entrance to Wilderness Lodge--lime green crocs (July 2008) I have been wearing crocs since before they were popular -- back when they were just ugly, and find these are better for me than my NB walking shoes. I do not wear knock-offs, and even teach in these at college.
