We took DD to the American Girl Store on Friday. As we were getting on the escalator there was a sign next to it stating if you were wearing CROCS, or flip flops to use the elevator instead. I had seen a thread some where on these boards of a person posting a picture of what happened to her DD's CROCS while on an escalator and they were destroyed. Apparently they can get stuck?:confused3
I always wear my CROCS and have never thought twice about using an escalator while wearing them. I guess this is a big problem so I just wanted to post this to let you all know to not go on an escalator with Crocs! Seeing that sign posted really struck me that this isn't an isolated incident but abviously a big problem.

I have a pair of crocs. They are wonderful on my feet. But at work, I go up and down the escalator 5 or 6 times a day. I've never had a problem and I really don't see how it could be a problem. I really don't know what you would have to be doing to do any damage.

I've been wearing flip-flops on escalators for years, and never had an issue there, either. I just keep my feet back far enough that they won't get caught. But I would do this in any shoe.... interesting to know that some people obviously do have a problem with this!

I saw that picture on the boards here where someone's child had her crocs stuck in an escalator. Luckily, she wasn't wearing the back strap and she was able to pull her foot out of the shoe quickly. The escalator ate part of her croc! I shudder to think of what it would have done to her toes.

Now I am extra mindful when we wear Crocs to the mall. We'll have to be extra careful at WDW, too. I know there is an escalator in The Land, and I'm wondering if the moving sidewalks in loading areas of rides are dangerous for Crocs too. (As an aside, those moving sidewalks can cause anyone to trip, but I wonder if wearing crocs increases your chances of tripping and/or getting caught at a loading area).

That said, crocs are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, and they prevented a plantar fasciitis flare up on our last trip. To be at WDW PF free is well worth avoiding escalators when possible.

well considering I wear crocs to work and must go up and down escalators 20+ times a day, I guess I should be lucky. but I think I'll keep wearing my crocs, after all danger is my middle name.

The problem happens when the Up side is just starting to collapes to softness and stickyness of the crocs and other sheoes can get hung up in the step above where you are standing if right up against it.

I have a friend that services them here in B-More and he said they have to clear things all the time that get stuck like that. I asked him about the crocs and he said they haven't had any yet but they did get a notice and to why it was possible for it to happen.
