I plan to use our crockpot while at the Fort in June - leaving it on a table in our screen room. Any chance that any 4-legged critters may get into it?

It's the two-legged critters cruising the loops spoon-in-hand that ya have to watch out for!

Thought you should see this. It's from another thread.

"There is plenty of free dining all year round at FW. Just wait for everybody to go to the parks and circle the loops with your spoon looking for crock pots. Some of the stuff is pretty good, some of it stinks. But hey, it's free.

Seriously, you should be okay.

:rotfl::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

To answer your question, bring a milk crate that will fit over the crock pot and bungie it to the picnic table

Where's the fun in answering the question?!

If the critter isn't too big it'll fit in most crock pots - make sure it's properly skinned and you got some good eatin'.

I knew this thread would go downhill fast. :lmao: thanks for the answers - I will keep my eyes open for loopers with spoons ....:rotfl2:

I think you got your answer and the chances of anything bad happening is close to nil, but call me crazy ... I just would not leave something cooking outside unattended ... it only takes one crazy. I put the crockpot on the stove top inside the trailer if cooking unattended. Also it really smells good in the trailer when you return :goodvibes

Save time and add a few tablespoons of tenderizer, that way you don't have to skin it. This allows more time for drinking.

Also, a few stratically placed nails will help you identify those loopers. A golf cart with a flat tire will not make it far.

Awww, have some fun with it, here is what I would do. Put two crockpots outside, side-by-side. Make a sign saying "Which one has the laxative in it? and set it on the table in front of the crockpots!!!:rotfl:

One of these things is not like the other.

That just popped in my head when I read previous post. :lmao:

If ya'll will be there the first week in June, leave a post of your site number and I will keep an eye one it.:rolleyes1 I'll even taste it just to make sure its ready when you return.:thumbsup2

I'm now looking for a new thread by gillenkl asking how it secure a crockpot outside (claymores come to mind as one option :rotfl2:) so all the loopers and hungry crazed DISers don't empty it before the OP can get to it ... :lmao:

Now that all the kudzu & undergrowth has been cleaned out, it has made it easier for me to "swoop in" on an unprotected grill, snag a burger or hot dog, and run like hell!!:thumbsup2

Occasionally I get lucky and get a ribeye steak!

That's like the watermellon where the farmer puts out the sign to deter thievs that says one of these watermellons is poison and the next day someone wrote on the sign now two of them are.

That why the farmer has the good watermelon in his house, and the camper has the good crockpot inside the TT.:thumbsup2

My 8yr old has a bicycle that grew legs in the middle of the night (brand new barbie bike) so I'm a leary of leaving anything out.:)

i don't think i would want to use a crockpot inside my mh. my mom has done this and sorry to say but, their mh still smells like it. no it isn't the smell from dad. ;)

but, i like the milk crate over the top.

We live in our rv and I cook in a crockpot all the time. The trick to getting any smell out of the rv is to have a spray bottle of 1/3 cup of white vinegar and a cup of water. It kills the smell and not cover it up.
