One of our family traditions at Thanksgiving is making butter(shaking heavy cream until it becomes butter) and applesauce in the crockpot. These are two food items that my children always contribute. They started making butter and apple sauce when they were 3 and 6. They are now 14 and 17 and still make this their food contribution for Thanksgiving.
They have added a sweet treat also. They make cornecopias(don't know if spelled right) You need: bugles, vanilla frosting in the can, and Trix cereal. The bugle is the horn, you dip the open end into frosting and then stick Trix cereal on the frosting. They look like little cornecopias. They are a really sweet treat but they still love making them and serving them to their little cousins and watching them enjoy the sugar high.
