I woke up around 7:30am (rest of family still sound asleep. Yesterday, due to our 6:40am Ryanair flight it had been a very early start & l knew they needed to sleep in). The hotel pool opened at 8am so l decided to go to it on my own. No one else was there except a lifeguard. The water in the pool was really quite cold - too much of a shock to the system for me first thing in the morning
, the jacuzzi was lovely and warm though as was the pool area - very nice sun loungers btw. They were playing very relaxing music, it was bliss.
When l got back to our room the other 3 were still sleeping. After a few attempts l managed to get them up out of bed. DD took forever to get ready (as she gets older it's getting worse!) - her outfit & hair had to be just right. Eventually managed to get us all out of the room & to breakfast for 10am
- no wonder we didn't have to queue, most hotel guests were in the park (EMH had started at 8am). At the DLH not having to choose a particular time for breakfast beforehand is good (DH especially liked that, he was wanting as relaxing a trip as possible), but a pre-assigned (earlier) time as on our previous stays at other hotels gets us (ie the other 3) up & into the park earlier.
We had breakfast in the California Grill, it's lovely there - buffet had a great choice & everything was lovely & fresh. After breakfast we went to the hotel shop - something DD had to buy, can't remember what it was now, she probably can't either. At last we got ourselves into the park.
First we went on Buzz Lightyear Lazer Blast, which we all loved, especially DS(4), then it was a quick look in the shop there.
Next we went on It's A Small World.
When we came out of It's A Small World it was cold & raining
, DS begun to feel unwell and was wheezing a lot, we gave him some of his asthma medication, but he still wasn't very well, so DH decided he & DS would go back to the hotel (he told me later they got on the Main St double decker bus, which DS really liked). DD Louise soon decided she wanted to go back to the hotel as well, so we walked back through Fantasyland and got a ride down Main St. in one of the Main St vehicles - the police van.
Louise & l then went to McDonalds in Disney Village got some lunch for the 4 of us which we had back in the hotel room.
A while after lunch, Louise & l went to the pool. Yesterday morning's early start was catching up on me by then and l was feeling quite tired, so l had a rest in the room while DH went with Louise & DS (who was feeling a bit better) to Minnie's Playroom. It's open 3pm - 10pm & is supervised by a CM, sometimes 2 and has 4 interconnecting playrooms - soft play area, crafts, games & tv/computer games.
We had tickets for the 6:30pm Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. I wasn't sure if DS was well enough to go to it and l was thinking DH & DD should just go, but DS was desperate to see the cowboys & the horses, so we decided to all go & request seats near the back (in case any dust affected him) and see how it went, l could always leave with him during the show. We got seats in the 2nd row from the back, the view was great. We all enjoyed the show, including DS, although he wasn't on top form, at one point he did manage to join in with everyone else banging their cutlery on the metal plates, he wouldn't wear the cowboy hat at all though. He enjoyed seeing the cowboys, indians & horses and l was glad we all had went. Shortly before the end of the show l took DS out as he really didn't like it when there was a mass of people crowded together in the pre-show area when we arrived, so by leaving early we avoided the crowds.
IMHO you go to Buffalo Bills for the show rather than the food - which was so-so - DH ate quite a bit of his, except the chicken which he didn't like, DD ate the potato wedges & hardly anything else, DS didn't eat anything at all. He didn't want any of the pasta l had got as the vegetarian choice - l had read a review on dlpfoodguide.com where someone had recommended opting for this, even if like me you are not a vegetarian. The pasta, potato wedges & vegetables were fine, definitely quite edible. The dessert of apple cobbler & ice-cream was good.
Once we got back to the hotel room DH & Louise went to the pool (the DLH pool was proving very popular with us. Last year we never had time to go to the one at the Sequoia Lodge). While they were at the pool I took a revived DS John to Minnie's playroom (that was proving popular with him too). We then all went to Cafe Fantasia in the hotel. DS soon fell asleep in his pushchair, so it was nice & relaxing having drinks & listening to the pianist there.
