Hi All! I've been planning our October '16 trip for more than a year but with so many recent changes/additions, I'd love some feedback from you all as to whether I should make any changes to our touring plans. I make my FP+ reservations tomorrow morning so the only thing set right now are my dining reservations, FP+ times are all guesstimates. It's just my fiancé & I from Sunday, October 23rd to Saturday, October 29th staying at Pop Century without park hopper. It's our third time going together as adults, our second time staying at Pop, and our first trip during the fall!

Sunday
Arrive at MCO @ 10:45am - lunch @ resort or Flame Tree (depending on how hungry we are) - hop on a bus to AK by 1pm - first FP+ @ 1:30pm for Kilimanjaro Safaris - we want to make the 3pm showing of FOTLK so we'll walk through Gorilla Falls before or after (depending on time) - head over to Asia for FP+ @ 3:30pm for Expedition Everest - will do Maharaja Jungle Trek before or after, depending on time - possibly Finding Nemo or meeting characters next - last FP+ will be @ 5pm for Dinosaur - park is scheduled to close @ 7pm so we'll spend the rest of our time taking in the nighttime offerings or whatever else we'd like to do - after closing, we'll take a bus over to Saratoga Springs so we can walk over to Disney Springs for our 8:30pm reservation @ Raglan Road (at my fiancé's request) - we'll probably head right home after dinner

Monday
Head to the bus stop by 8am for 9am opening @ Epcot - head to the Land first to ride Soarin' without a FP+ and possibly ride one more time after if the wait is <20 minutes - Living with the Land next - head over to Test Track for FP+ scheduled 9:15-10:15am (is that enough time?) - Mission Space: Orange next - head to the Festival Center to pick up a passport booklet for F&WF - then Spaceship Earth with FP+ scheduled 10:15-11:15am - still not sure where to schedule my last FP+ (I'm thinking maybe the Character Spot since Mission Space doesn't typically have long waits in the morning- what do you think?) - spend the rest of the afternoon in World Showcase enjoying the F&WF - leave the park whenever we're ready - we have no set plans at night so we'll either head back to Epcot, make a last minute dining reservation, or just hang by pool and grab dinner at Pop/AoA

Tuesday
Head to the bus stop by 7:45am for 9am opening @ Magic Kingdom (definitely want to be there for the welcome show) - head to PPF first - Winnie the Pooh - Under the Sea - then 7DMT with FP+ scheduled 9:15-10:15am - next is Haunted Mansion - Splash Mountain with FP+ - Pirates - then our last FP+ at Space Mountain - hopefully leave the park by 11:30-12pm - spend the afternoon at the pool and/or relaxing at resort - head to the bus stop for MNSSHP by 4:30pm - dinner @ QS in Magic Kingdom - spend some time doing Tomorrowland attractions before getting our spot for the first parade - grab a snack before Hallowishes - our plan is to stick around for the Kiss Goodnight so we'll spend the rest of the night meeting characters, riding attractions, watching the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular, etc.

Wednesday
Sleep in after our late night - spend some time at the pool if weather permits - maybe head to Disney Springs for lunch @ the Boathouse (I'm dying to try!) and check out some of the new spots - no set plans until our 7:40pm dinner reservation @ California Grill and we'll stick around after dinner to see Wishes from the observation deck

Thursday
Really long, full day at Universal/IOA - I'm thinking we'll grab an Uber by around 9:30am and we'll spend the entire day at both parks and stay for HHN - it's a ridiculously long day and I'm kind of nervous about it but I think we'll be able to rally - we may push back our arrival time but I'm not sure how much of a difference it'll make, we're pretty early risers anyway

Friday
My original plan was to get to Hollywood Studios for opening but I may just plan to sleep in after our long day on Thursday - we have a 1pm reservation at Sci-Fi and I'll schedule our FP+ reservations a little later so we'll have some flexibility on our arrival time (RnR @ 11am, ToT @ 12pm, Star Tours @ 2:15) - we'll fit in TSMM without a FP+ sometime between our FP+ reservations and lunch - we'd also like to make a showing of Beauty & the Beast but not a must do - we have dining reservations @ Narcoossee's at 8pm

Saturday
Wake up early and head to Magic Kingdom whenever we've finished packing up and checking our luggage - FP+ to meet Mickey @ 10:00am - spend some time shopping - FP+ for 7DMT @ 11am - lunch @ Be Our Guest for 12pm - not sure where to schedule our last FP+ (maybe Space?) - our DME will pick us up at 4:30pm so we'll spend the rest of the afternoon exploring MK or head over to Disney Springs for some last minute shopping

Be careful with planning out each and every minute of your trip. You'll exhaust yourself rushing around and keeping a schedule. It'll feel like a normal work day for you filled with meetings and keeping appointments.

I went last September, (granted a solo trip,) and planned nothing. No ADRs or big plans like we usually do. Granted, not everyone can do this.

I suggest keep an ADR a day and a few FP+ and enjoy the parks and relax.

My thoughts....overall it sounds like a great plan. A few things to thing about....

Sunday - that's cutting it close for the 1:30 FP. You didn't say how you were getting from MCO to your resort. ME can take up to 2-3 hours.
Your Fast Passes are kind of early....you probably won't need them at 9:15am. Maybe think about scheduling them early afternoon / lunchtime to take better advantage of shorter lines at RD.

Thank you for the feedback! I know I do try to pack in a bunch of stuff but we don't get to go as often as I'd like so I do get a little crazy with planning. Other than FP+ reservations and ADRs, everything else is pretty fluid. We have a few must-dos but I wouldn't be heart broken if we didn't get to accomplish everything I have listed.

We are taking the DME to/from the airport and I've been lucky in the past with <1 hour for us to arrive at our resort so maybe I will push that first FP+ back on Sunday so I don't get too anxious if our luck changes this time around. I try to avoid afternoons in the parks if I can help it which is why I've planned some of my FP+ early in the mornings but otherwise I agree, they're more needed in the afternoons.

The first few days of your trip look eerily close to mine! For example, on Sunday and Monday, we have two of the exact same FP times and our FP are in close to the same order. We'll be at MNSSHP Tuesday as well. Weird!

Anyway, trip buddy, I think your trip looks great. I just saw something on another thread that said there was a rumor about RnR being down for a short maintenance 10/27-11/1, so make sure to check that out as it looks like that will impact your HS day.

Where did you see this info about RnR possibly being down? I haven't seen that, but UGH that would suck to have it AND BTMR down at the same time.

It was in another thread earlier today.... maybe the October 2016 group thread on "doing the happy dance". FWIW someone responded that they had successfully booked a RnR FP for 10/27 with no problems. So who knows if it's true.

and I agree - both of those down would suck!

That's awesome!! I guess great Disney minds think alike :earsboy:

I read the same thing about RnR possibly being unavailable to book FP+ from 10/27-10/31 or something like that but the post wasn't sure if it was a glitch or indication that a refurb would be taking place- I wish I could remember where I read it! I think it may've been on Reddit. In any case, I'll be making my FP+ reservations tomorrow morning so I'll update this post on whether or not RnR was available for me.

Also, totally irrelevant but I clicked your link to check out your PTR and saw that you were going for your PhD in org psych ... I have my MA in I/O psych... too funny!

DME average time from MCO to the resorts is 70 - 90 minutes, not 2 - 3 hours. Hope this helps

Ahhh thank you for the clarification! I think I'd take a panic attack if it took 3 hours to get to our resort :worship:

Are we long-lost twins?! :smooth:

You should still build in extra time. We had issues when we got to the magical express. Our bands kept scanning that we were staying at POP when we were stay at POR.
The CM seemed pretty sure I was mistaken about our resort and wouldn't let us on to the Riverside bus until they could "fix it." After over an hour at the desk showing proof of my reservation, they finally gave up on fixing our bands and printed out a bar-code for them to scan instead of our bands. It was a nightmare... we landed at 9:30 am and didn't make it to our hotel until 2pm!

Sorry for your troubles. But this is clearly an aberration and not something everyone needs to plan for.

Your trip looks great, can I go with you?!?! But I agree with others, be careful on the down to the minute plans. We did that with our first trip in 2014 so eased up in 2015 and felt much more relaxed with ourselves and kids. Mishaps can happen so don't get upset if you miss something early or too close of a FP bc one before was running late or something. I'm going for a weekend in October for a girlfriend getaway and we have plans but also want to relax. Have a great trip!!!

omg what a total pain in the butt for you guys! sorry you had to go through all of that, i would've been super frustrated esp with them questioning if you had the right resort like come on!
