Criminal Minds -- DIS Official Thread 1 (SPOILERS!)

Well that really wasn't anything special. I mean, it wasn't a bad show, but it was just like any other CSI type show.

They fired A.J. Cook for that? :sad2:

I agree with your whole post. :(

I slept in this morning so I could be awake tonight. I didn't want to miss out on the storyline or the eye candy. :cloud9:

There was eye candy in this show? :confused3

Wonder if the janitor will be a regular feature on the show or if it was a one time thing tonight.

The gal agent seemed to kid around with him like he's around a lot.

I was afraid that Garcia would be on their show so much that she would be noticeably on CM less. Hopefully that won't be the case. Doesn't look like she will be over in their gym/headquarter much.

The Director is supposed to be a regular. The Director of the FBI really goes visiting a team that much, instead of having them go to him? :confused3

Strauss would never do that. She likes her own office too much. They called Strauss 'director' also, during their pilot episode. How many FBI directors are there?

I meant the eye candy on the original CM. Not so much eye candy on the rip-off, I mean spin-off.

I would surmise that because this team, er club, is a "Red Cell" they probably don't go around the regular FBI office much, if at all.

So how can they write about a Red Cell Club that no one is supposed to know about? If you talk to a real FBI agent, will they deny that this special club exists? So where do the writers get the info to write about what they do? :confused3 Now that the show is out will the FBI say it's all make believe for TV?

And how does this club differ from a regular BAU team, except that not everyone is from the U.S. and they seem rougher around the edges. They still went around identifying themselves as FBI agents to everyone, and they were still called in by the local police.

I will give Suspect Behavior a few more weeks but honestly I think I would have instantly liked it better if only Janeane Garofalo wasn't on it.

As for the lazy eye thing, hasn't FW had that for years and years while JM seems like maybe he had Bell's Palsy recently and didn't make a full recovery.

Remember "The Unit"? Lots of yummy eye candy there too. :love:Anyhow, if any of the guys were caught the gov't would deny their mission and their existence. I've no proof of it but I'm certain we've an agency like that in real life.

The Red Cell is real. Brad Meltzer, the author, was asked to be part of it.

Have to post more later, laptop battery dying. :(

At least Janeane Garofalo wasn't her usual snarky self. Although her comment on hoping she's wrong for once, alluded that we will probably see it eventually. I can't stand her.

I've noticed the lazy eye in both actors before, but it wasn't as pronounced as recently in both guys.

Interesting article. The Homeland Security Red Cell sounds like just a big think tank of temporary experts.

Seems like Suspect Behavior sounds like they are going for a domestic CIA covert op with the same people on the team all the time.

Garcia also seemed harried (to me) when asked for help. Maybe we were seeing her office from another side? We usually see her from one side of the room. Maybe she has another computer that she uses on consults from other units.

They seen like a hodge podge of people put together at the last minute. No one seems to behave like they have worked in a BAU before except maybe FW. Maybe he's got a group of renegades and that's why the director comes to them. What I don't understand if why they are above a gym instead of an office building.

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior

Ok, I didn't hate it. I thought it was a good storyline but not one that Rossi, Hotch, Reid, Prentiss, Garcia, J.J. and Morgan couldn't have handled. Notice how I left Seaver out and put J.J. back on the team? :thumbsup2

I just didn't feel anything for the characters. Like was mentioned, they just seemed like a hodge podge bunch of goofs all tossed together. Kind of like just grabbing a bunch of leftovers from the fridge, throwing it together and calling it supper. Sometimes it works and sometimes not so much.

I'm watching A&E tonight, reruns of CM. On now is "Tabula Rasa". I didn't catch who but one of the agents asks Reid who the new tech girl is. He answers, "Uh, Gomez I think." Seriously? Reid who has a photo-something-or-other mind?

Anyhow, Garcia is walking by and Morgan calls her Gomez, no response. Then we hear the first time he calls her "Baby Girl". She responds, with a smile, "I've been called worse." :lmao:

They were also passing around a photo at the opening of the show of Prentiss rocking some serious 80's hair. :scared1: I wonder when that was taken in comparison to when she was taken from where she was with Ian?

Really good episode! Then again, aren't most of them?

Yes, there is a lot missing from this show. It's like the writers never really watched the 5 years of CM, or the fact that it's now re-running so much, that details we might have missed the first time, we get the second time we watch. And the stuff that works get highlighted the second time around. These are details these writers don't seem to understand.

For instance, what Kirby said below:

Garcia also seemed harried (to me) when asked for help. Maybe we were seeing her office from another side? We usually see her from one side of the room. Maybe she has another computer that she uses on consults from other units.

They seen like a hodge podge of people put together at the last minute. No one seems to behave like they have worked in a BAU before except maybe FW. Yes, in the pilot episode of CM, it was quite evident that Hotch, Morgan & Reid had all worked together for quite a while, and they went to re-activate Gideon's working status and pick him up. It was clear they each knew Gideon and that there were ongoing relationships.

The SB team really does seem hodge-podge and that thy don't really know each other. There's no working chemistry. Did they even interact and say more than two lines to each other the whole show? Other than to talk the violent agent down from his rage? The majority of their interaction was with FW.

Belle linked to a description of what the Homeland Security Red Cells do. Sounds necessary, different, specialized for unique situations.

Why did this particular case need some rogue, covert team? It was an average child abduction. We saw episodes like that when the girl was abducted from a shopping mall & it turned out to be the aunt. Or the one that happened at a carnival, right next to her mother, who was purposely distracted & looking away so they could grab her daughter. That one turned out to be serial abductions over many years. The regular BAU handles this stuff all the time. :confused3

As for Garcia, there were times when she has been able to patch into the FBI computers when she was brought in on a case, like when she worked that pig farm case, and the more recent one when they went up to Alaska, and Garcia, herself witnesses a guy being murdered in the middle of the night out in the woods.

That British guy seems to have quite a handle on the computer stuff. Why can't he just tie into the FBI computers the way Garcia does when she's on location on a case?

What IS with the Director needing to visit them? Hotch, the Unit Chief of the whole BAU, not just of his team also had to go visit FW, who was just sparring in the gym. FW, obviously had the time and should have had the due respect for Hotch's position to go to Hotch's office to see HIM.

Since Rossi & FW, both have been at the bureau for about as long, who visits who, when they need to talk? :scratchin

Maybe non-Academy Award winners are supposed to go visit the award winners, but, in terms of this TV show, it doesn't play. :sad2:

I really hope AJ Cook's salary didn't go to fund Forrest Whitaker's higher asking price. So far, it hasn't proved to be worth it.

You & I posted at the same time, so I missed your post. I had A&E on my TV, too. If I'm not watching something specific on TV and CM is on, I'll have it on mute in the background. It's like it's my TV screensaver. :lmao:

I might turn it up if I catch Morgan or Hotch talking. Like in the episode you mentioned, I like when Hotch is being cross-examined on the witness stand and he shows the lawyer up by profiling him. :thumbsup2

As for Reid not knowing Garcia's name, he's got a photographic memory, not audiographic. (At least that's the excuse I tell myself. :rolleyes1) He at least got the ethnicity right.

I think it's funny the dark shoe polish they put on Morgan's head to look like a few years ago. :lmao:

When you watch the episode again, when J.J. & Prentiss are sitting, talking to Rossi in his office, on his desk, they show a picture of him with Ringo Star! It's a real pic. One time he bumped into Ringo, who said how much he liked CM. Joe was able to get his pic snapped with Ringo. So now it sits on his desk. :woohoo:

Bicker just posted links to Entertainment Weekly's list of the Top 50 shows and Bottom 50 shows so far this year. http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/02/18/midseason-ratings-the-top-50-shows-so-far/

American Idol, which airs directly across from CM on Weds, has the highest slot of Top Shows. Of course, that is a social, cult phenomenon, so that would be natural.

However, CM, is about #13 on the whole list, (when you take out shows like football & Dancing with the Stars, which are over for the season.) :dance3:

What does that say about us that we live in a TV culture who likes to hear songs being murdered, or us specifically, here, who prefer watching people being murdered instead of songs? :scratchin

I just finished watching the pilot for the new CM, and I didn't hate it at all. I wasn't a huge fan of JJ, so I didn't go in bitter that the new show took her away, I've also avoided all the negative reports and reviews. (I am a big fan of Emily, though and sad that she is going to have her show time cut.)

I don't think that the team had the same 'family' feel of the original, but I am not sure that the original did either when it started. I think it could develop though. I do love Penelope tie in as an attachment to the other show. It is like Director Vance on NCIS and NCIS: LA.

I will say that although I really hate it when these shows deal with crimes against children, I thought that this show was more like the CM of old. I think the original is getting way too sensational and graphic, so the new show was a bit refreshing in that aspect.

CM:SB doesn't have the eye candy of the original show, but I am glad that they didn't try to 'match' the characters in the two shows up to each other.

One last thing. I am also one who really isn't a fan of Janeane Garofalo. I don't begrudge her political opinions, but it would have been nice if she kept acting for acting and her politics for somewhere else. Having said that, though, as an actress, I actually LIKE her snarkyness. I would have preferred her to be MORE sarcastic and cynical. I think that is when she is at her best.

Well, I won't be able to give my opinions on the new episode until Monday because I'll be watching from Disney tomorrow :) We planned to be back in the room by 9:00 because we have to get up at like 4:00 tomorrow morning. So after a few hours in the Magic Kingdom, we'll go back to our room and watch CM. Does that sentence sound odd to anyone else? :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Thank you!!!

Awww, I love MGG :thumbsup2 That reminds me, I went to a concert last night and a member of one of the opening bands looked almost exactly like MGG/Reid pre-haircut. He was even wearing Reid-like clothes. It was so weird

Yes, I am a faithful follower of this thread and No that does not sound strange. Got to keep a balance with your other life. :lmao:

NEW episode tonight! Next week too. :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

Remember the spinoff follows right afterward.

New pictures! (According to Twitter guidelines, I'm supposed to give credit to the originating Twitter person if snipping & copying pictures. I don't think the cast cares, since they know pics they've taken are being sent around, but for other people, it's the name following the @. It would be bummy for someone to happen upon a pic they took and not get credit for it. :surfweb: :( )

A CM fan, @gaby_gabriela Tweeted this to the cast. :rotfl2:
I love the one of Morgan. :rotfl:
