So I've had my Cricut for a few days now and loved it until yesterday. For some reason I can't get it to cut through cardstock. I am using the Teardrop font and I have it set for 5. What else do I need to check? I know that cardstock it fairly thick, but I have others that are even thicker. Will a Cricut not cut through cardstock?

Make sure your blade is set to 6, your pressure to 5 and your speed to 1.
It has a problem with some textured cardstock.
Try again and report back.

Check the blade setting - inside where you installed the blade. I found the lowest number I could set it to and have it work for everything I put through is a 4.

On thicker stuff I have better results increasing the speed to 4 also, unless the cuts are narrow then I use a 2. I only use a 1 on vellum.

btw, I wrote done the speed/pressure combinations for the papers I use (bazzill cs, reg cs, pp, vellum) and then typed it up and taped it to the bottom inside piece of the machine - the parts that comes down when you open it.

Marlynn,

Would you mind sharing your various speed/pressure combination settings for the different paper stock? That would be helpful for the new cricut owners (and us older ones too. ;) )

TIA :)

Yes Marlynnp, please share. I have the hardest time cutting vellum.

Yes please Marlynnp!!!

I too would like to know what your selections are. Sometimes I drive myself crazy trying to cut things. I've got some pretty thin but so pretty paper I've tried to use and every thing I've tried just rips it up.

Hey MAR, we have the request line open!!!
Could you please share your list!!!!

Thanks bunches!!! :)

whoa, sis....don't need to shout..... I was doing easter bunny duties, lol

will post list in a minute.....

Well, why you are doing that.. I will quietly go down stairs and start on my easter bunny duties because the kids have finally settled down!!
Sorry, to yell so loud.. I hope I didn't scare ya!:rotfl:

S= speed
P=pressure

as mentioned before I keep my blade depth at a 4 and that seems to work for me for everything

heavy cardstock (Bazzill) - S4, P5
cardstock, textured papers - S4, P4
regular paper - S3, P3 (detailed cuts, change to S2)
thin paper - S2, P2
vellum - S1, P1

As you can see I almost always use the same # for speed and pressure.
Though it seems like you should cut slower through the thick stuff don't!
Unless, you are doing really detailed cuts you want to keep that blade moving through the heavy stuff, then you don't get those little spots where it doesn't quite cut.

hth :)

Thanks for posting that! I've had my bug for a while but I'm still working out the kinks. This will be super helpful!

Thanks for the cheatsheet. Have to cut print that out and tape it to my bug.

Thanks!:goodvibes

I am going to print it out and tape it to my cricut too.

Oh my gosh, you guys are awesome! I was doing it completely wrong! The only thing that I had adjusted was the wheel on the right hand side. I had totally forgotten about the numbers on the blade and didn't see how the stuff on the left side could make a difference. Now it all makes sense. I was getting frustrated for nothing!

Also, Marlyn, thanks for your settings. I am going to print the out and put it by my machine.

Hey Minnie&Mickey, this is sooo OT but I had to ask, you saw a woman in a thong on Castaway Cay? Really!? I almost spit out my Coke when I saw your tag. Your poor eyes. I hope she was in good shape at least. Though on the few occasions I've been where people feel like a thong is a good idea, I've noticed that the people you wouldn't mind wearing one are never wearing one and the people who have no business even looking at a thong in the store much less strutting around with it on always seem to be the one making the bad fashion choice. One of my little stories involves Jacksonville Beach, a grandpa, at least 75, and a lime green thong. :scared: I won't say anymore because I don't want you to be afraid to go out. But I will say that even for a Dis'er a lime green thong is going too far! :lmao:

No, she was not in good shape. She was in her late 40s to early 50s and had lots of cellulite (which I also have, but I would NEVER wear a thong...actually I won't even wear a two piece unless it is a tankini). The really bad part is that she was standing by the buffet where all of the fruit is set up, and she kept trying to reach for something that was up high. So she was leaning all over the fruit that was in front of her on the buffet. It was pretty gross...and needless to say, we didn't eat any of the fruit! Actually all of my tags with the exception of the "weird reflections" one come from this same experience at Castaway Cay.

YUck! mental image.. please please someone wipe that mental image out of my head!!:scared1:
