I need to change the blade in my cricut so I followed the directions in the book and put the new one in. Try cutting and the first thing I cut out is fine then the next few aren't cut the whole way through. Take out the blade holder (whatever it's called), and there's paper stuck near the blade. Clean it out, try it again, same thing. Tried several more times, played with setting, paper, etc. Still doesn't work and now even the first item isn't cut out completely.

So, I thought I did something wrong and change back to the old blade just to see. It works fine (other than I need a new blade :) ). So, is something wrong with a brand new blade or am I doing something wrong? And if I am, what?? Please help - I need my cricut!

Boy, I feel dumb - I thought I was doing something wrong and never blamed cricut! What an idiot :lmao:

Thanks Cricut experts!

always blame the machine first! LOL
DH laughs because I tell him all the time ~ it is not me...it's the machine!

It could never be you, Nanc. :rotfl2:

Vanyel, not sure where you live, but if you are in a really humid area with lots of moisture in the air, that may cause problems cutting paper too. The paper gets moisture in it making it hard to cut.

This time though it sounds like the blade being defective.

Can you believe my local Jo-Ann's didn't have any blades? Ahhhhhh

ACM has them 50% off this week! I'm going over today or tomorrow. Oh, they are open on the 4th, that makes me sad for them, but glad for me that I can shop :)

No Acm in my area :sad1: but lots of other places I can check. Enjoy the sale!

I usually have the best luck at Walmart for my blades... for some strange reason J's and M's never have them.... (or they run and hide them when they see my van enter the parking lot!)

Has anyone tried exchanging for new ones at the store when they find the blades they got are defective? Or has anyone contacted Provo Craft themselves to let them know about this? Just wondering. I haven't had any problems with blades personally (thank goodness), but I'm wondering if I ever do if they'll generally be helpful or if I have to go spend more money. Thanks.

I would have taken it back but I don't have the receipt anymore, plus it was a while ago. Next time I'll check it sooner :)

Try contacting Provo Craft. I had to call them about a defective mat for a customer and they sent out a new one.
