Cricut Opposites Attract question

Hi --
What's the secret to having the letters look like they're attached? In layouts that I've seen, they seem so flawless, but I can't seem to achieve the same effect.

I trim the tails of the letters and then layer just the end of the tail under the letter following. I don't think it will be seamless until the new software is out but it looks pretty good.

That is how I do it also. Of all the carts I think the new software will help OA the most.
