I think I may get this on BF at JoAnn's. I have been dying to get a cricut for years.....

Can anyone give me their review of it?

Are all the cricut cartridges interchangable with all the cricut machines?

Thx!!

I had one for about 2 1/2 years.. just sold it after I realized I haven't used it in over a year. It's great at first but I found the cartridges to be way too expensive. You can buy a program online (SCAL) where you can design and download your own designs for free (the program costs though). After I decorated everything I could think of in vinyl, I couldn't see the use of keeping the machine. It can be a lot of fun though if you spend the time (and money) on it.

I love mine...in fact, if it broke, I would have to run right out and buy another! I use it for everything...making cards, decorating my home, scrapbooking, plus I am a teacher so it comes in so handy for my classroom. The cartridges can be found online at under $20 either on Ebay or Ohmycrafts.com....and the cartridges are all interchangeable.

I love my Cricut!!! As the PP said, all the carts but the Imagine carts are interchangable. SCAL no longer works with the Cricut machines if they have the most current operating system (so if you have one that SCAL works with do not update the OS; new machines will not support SCAL. Carts are expensive, but deals can be found. The best deals are online. The most shopped sites are cricutmachine.com and Hallmark Scrap. (If you order from Cricut Machine use a prepaid visa or paypal as some people have had credit card info compromised.)

I have the first cricut that came out and really want to learn how to use it as i have a ton of scrapbooking to catch up on but i'm intimidated by it :lmao: I just cant seem to figure out those instructions that come in the books with the cartridges. Hasnt stopped me from collecting almost 30 cartridges. :rotfl2:

My goal is to learn to use it this winter so i can justify an upgraded version............:confused3

Oh no on the SCAL :( That was the coolest part about it to me... I could personalize anything and design anything I wanted. Even with deals... the Cricut will end up costing a TON in the end... cartridges, mats, blades, ink, paper, etc.

It is expensive, but it does not have to cost a ton. I only buy carts at $28 or less. I use repositional adhesive to re-sticky my mats so that I buy less. Once again, I only buy them with a coupon or on sale; same thing with blades. Ink is only needed if you have the Imagine. It is not required for the Expression. Scrapping in general is an expensive habit, but it can be contained.
