Cricut Create v. Cricut Personal

Anyone know the differences? Michaels has the Personal on sale for $94.99 this week and I had planned on making this my Christmas present to myself. I was a bit up in the air on the smaller Cricut v. the Expression, but I think I could use my friend's Expression when we do our monthly crops, or if I go to Archivers for a weekend crop. I mostly want it for shapes & letters.

Anyone have any comparisons? Likes / dislikes?

the create has some of the same features as the expression but cuts the same size as the personal:

Rotate/Portrait, Fit to page, Auto Fill, Flip and Center Point.

I utilize auto fill and flip a lot so if I had it to do over again, I'd probably buy the create over the personal. I also have the expression and typically pull that out because of the added features.

If you can swing it (maybe a good deal online?) -- go for the Expression. Once you drink the Cricut koolaid, it's very easy to get sucked into upgrading. I had my little one for probably less than three months, before I got the E (and wasted money on jukeboxes and CDS, because I eventually couldn't resist getting the Gypsy -- which is great once you get the hang of it). At least now my daughter is using the little one (probably the Personal, I don't think it did those things Buffy listed). But maybe the access you have to the E is enough for you (I don't know anyone here who has one). (I only got into Cricut because at the time DD was working at ACM and her employee discount worked on Cricut when they had a "sale" on the machines --- even tho coupons don't work for cricut stuff).

Here's some more discussion on differences:

I had the original Cricut for years, loved it and never thought I had a need for the Expression. When the Pink E came out I decided to upgrade and am so glad I did ... if nothing else for the larger cuts. I do a lot of Disney scrapping so it was a big plus for me. I'd skip the little bug and go straight for the E. Black Friday is not that far off ... you might catch a good deal.

I have the original Cricut and later got the expression, I now want the new "baby Bug" 1 reason because there is a black one now (and it would match my new Expression) If you can swing it just get the Expression you will want it eventually anyways. But budget wise the create is good for right now. I love both and all cricuts you'll love whatever you decide on.

I have been searching online auctions trying to get a cricut for my two young daughters for Christmas. Now you have me thinking that I should wait until Black Friday. Do you mind my asking if you have seen deals personally for that day in years past? Thanks so much!

Last year on BF the Cricut was $188 at Walmart (in 3 or 4 "exclusive" colors).

I second that I got my black expression on BF at Wal-mart it was good times too was there at 1 am and sat by it til 5am when we were aloud to touch them.

I'm a crafter, but not into scrapbooking. I'd like a Cricut for doing lettering and would like to be able to use the Mickey and Pals graphics in some of my crafts. I'm leaning toward just getting the Create. I don't think I need the size capabilities of the Expression. Can anyone give me any input as to whether the Expression has any other features over the Create that would make me regret going with the smaller machine? I actually went so far as to purchase the Expression and bring it home, but once I saw the actual size of it out of the box, I am having serious second thoughts. It just seems like overkill for what I want to use it for.
Thanks for any advice!
