Cricut and linked words

How do you get the linked words from a Cricut? All my cartidges I own and the ones I see do individual letters. Sometimes this is just not what I want, especially for little letters.

To get the letters "welded" together, I use SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software.

It does make the gluing down easier to have one strip of the letters (a word) rather than individual letters.

I think Cricut's Design Studio welds letters too.

CDS does weld letters too. There are a few carts that have "welded" words already on them. Off the top of my head, I know one (maybe Sweethearts?) has Hugs & Kisses - we used them for the Valentine cards we made and sent for the troops.

As others have said, getting the letters hooked together is called welding. You need some sort of computer based program (either SCAL, CDS, or the Gypsy) to do it. It does make gluing words down much easier! All of the font carts have some pre-loaded phrases on them. Most are things llike: To/From, Happy Birthday, Seasons, etc.

I use the Cricut Design Software to weld. Sure Cuts A Lot is an aftermarket product, I think you need Design Studio to use it. It also allows you to cut any dingbats, etc that you find on the net. If your Cricut is still under warranty, there may be an issue with Sure Cuts a Lot if you have a problem....I seem to remember something on the Cricut message board about that.

I use SCAL. With SCAL you can use any font on your computer to make words or phrases so you don't have to buy all of the font cartridges. You can also cut unlimited shapes and pictures with SCAL (there are tons of freebies and tutorials on-line). You don't need CDS to use SCAL (I don't have CDS) but you do have to update the firmware on your Bug.

Ooooh, I did a very neat thing last night...I was able to bring images from CDS into SCAL (from the new Princess cart) and make them into SVGs. I'm going to do some test cuts tonight!

No, you do not need CDS to run SCAL and if you did, you could just use it in trial mode anyway.
