Crib access for tall toddler doing a split stay

We are doing a split stay at SSR and BWI. My DS is a little linebacker and is on the tall side. We would like for him to be comfortable wherever he sleeps. I read on Disney moms blog the size of the ubiquitous Pack N Plays. But I couldn’t find “official” size information for the DW cribs. Some sites say they are scarce and not full size, but nothing more than that. We had looked into crib rentals from an outside vender. But with a 4day SSR- 4 day BWI split stay, dealing with multiple crib deliveries doesn’t sound ideal. The way I see it, we have 3 options.

1) Request an actual crib from Disney and cross our fingers it’s full size and comfortable (+$0)

2) Ask for a crib but get a Pack N Play
— 2a) Amazon Prime a travel mattress to the resort so DS isn’t sleeping on a padded board. Do contortions to force it into a suitcase for flight home. (+$60)
— 2b) Use Prime to buy cheapest PnP mattress and donate/dispose at end of trip (+$30)

3) Rent full size crib from outside vender for both SSR and BWI (+$120) from ABBF or another vender.

Am I missing any options? Which toddler sleeping arrangement would you advise for our situation?

Ask the rental company if they will move the crib for you, which should give you a better (fulf week vs four+three) rate.

When my Grandson was a toddler I went with DS and his family. We had 2 connecting rooms at the Poly. Toddler grandson was in one Queen bed with 2 guardrails, Granddaughter was on the day bed with one guardrail and I had the second Queen bed in the room. The Queen bed with guardrails worked out really well.

The crib we got at disney was smaller than the pack n play. I would do inflatable guard rails for the regular bed or pack n play mattress. I would not rent a full crib—the logistics of getting it in and set up on a split stay sound like too much of a headache for vacation

My kid is a giant and slept in the pack n play without a problem. I think she was about 3 feet tall at 20 months when we went. But she also doesn't climb out. I remember her fitting fairly well for the 4 or 5 nights we were there.

Once we realized she needed COMPLETE DARKNESS to sleep, she slept like the dead the nights we were there. (We were at POFQ and crammed the PnP into the dressing area near the sink and closed the curtain)

If she didn't handle the pack n play we were going to request guardrails, I'm glad we didn't have to go that route, she never would have slept.

I’m not sure if SSR would have a crib option from Disney. Every DVC Villa has a pack n play. I’ve only heard of isolated instances of a DVC connected to a cash resort delivering a crib.
Disney does also have bed rails for typical beds in cash rooms (ie BWI)

We never had a problem using the pull out couch (ie SSR) for our toddlers that were above pack n play size. The pull out couch is lower than the typical bed mattress, and we would create barriers with the couch cushions and pillows around the toddler.

SSR won't have a crib available since every villa has a pack and play in the closet.

At 18 months, we rented a crib for our son from Kingdom Strollers. He was over 30 lbs and I wasn’t sure he’d be comfortable in a pack n play for a week.

At 2, we put him in the other queen bed in our room with bedrails.

Depending on the age of your kid, you may be able to get away with bedrails vs. a crib.

We’re thinking about doing a PnP while bringing a trifold pnp foam mattress in our checked bag.

I would love if it if a quad fold pnp mattress existed then we could put it in carryon on bags.

He’s big enough for a toddler bed but still too young for bed rails this trip. Good to know for our next trip though. <thumbs up>
