My friend and I were just discussing our previous Disney cruises, and how our servers have mentioned to us that of all the cruise lines, Disney was the best to their employees in terms of amenities, and they were the only one that even offered a pool just for their crew. Looking over the Dream's plans, there doesn't seem to be a pool for the crew. Am I just missing it?

Was space too much of a premium to put in a crew pool? Or is there some hidden pool somewhere, in a place where only the crew can go to relax? Just wondering what they do to relax on the Dream. Special crew spa maybe? I hope they have something, they sure do work hard enough for a bit of down time!

I do not think they put in a pool on the new ship but in 9 cruises with DCL I only saw crew at the pool only a few time and in the pool once. I am not sure that it was used much and there may have been other items the crew may have preferred to have.

Several cruise lines, not just Disney, have small pools or hot tubs exclusively for use by the crew so your servers misled you a little bit there.

On the Dream MV we spoke to a CM and they said that because the crew pool was visible from guest areas that the CMs needed to follow strict rules regarding their dress and behavior. She said it was not very relaxing to lay out in the sun in full uniform, therefore the pool and deck got very little use.

She said the Dream crew have a sundeck on deck 13 aft that is not visible to the guests. I assume this is above Palo & Remy. She also said that certain CMs who were trained to a certain level of guest interaction are allowed to use the guest pools during off peak times, so you may see a Youth Activities counselor or Cruise Staff CM swimming in the guest pools early in the morning or late in the evening.

The few times I saw people down there, the females were not in full uniform, at least not for any part of the ship I ever saw. :scratchin If I'd known that was the uniform of the day in a particular part of the ship...I would have found that area of the ship PDQ. :lmao:

Not having a crew pool also limits Disney's options if there is a problem with one of the pools. Folks on the Magic when they had the fire said they had to close one of the pools, and opened up the crew pool, and I seem to recall someone posting that when there was an "accident" they sometimes open up the crew pool.

What is the crew pool on the Magic and Wonder, is the teen pool on the Dream and Fantasy.

Ive seen crew a few times in or near the pool on the Magic and Wonder, and it was rare that they were in uniform. Most of the time it was bathing suits or shorts.

The crew pool on the Magic and Wonder tend to get more use at night when more of the crew is off duty. When I have seen CMs out there, they were certainly not in any sort of uniform.

And yes, certain job categories are allowed to use the Quiet Cove pool--for instance, you'll sometimes see the theater actors up there when they aren't scheduled to escort characters. They are VERY strict about guest interaction though. We have a friend who was part of the crew. When we saw him by the pool and waved, he got fully dressed before he came over to where we were sitting and declined our invitation to take an empty chair. When I suggested that he shouldn't risk getting in trouble on our account, he pointed out that he was fully dressed and standing the required 6 feet away from an opposite sex guest.
