Oh my goodness. So freaked out right now! DH is out of town, so that does add to it...Ok, so onto the story. I get terrible signal, so my phone didn't ring, I just got voicemail notification. I checked it, expecting it to be my dad. Well, it's not. It sounds like a recording. It says something along these lines "Hi, it's Robbie. It's always good to talk to someone beautiful. You're a student though, so you should be hitting the books. I believe in the 3 Rs. Reading, and then my favorite, Robbing." At that point, I freaked out and deleted the message.

I shouldn't have deleted it. I should have had someone else listen. It bothers me because I've had this cell # for around 10 years now, and never really had any prank or telemarketer calls. I've given out my phone number a LOT today looking for moving companies, along with my address, so it makes me feel like the two are connected.

Anybody else gotten this message? Calm me down people!

First of all, I'd be calling back my voice mail and checking to see if I could re-instate any recently deleted messages. It's most likely nothing, but I wouldn't be deleting something like that just in case. Your phone company might be able to help you get it back if you can't get it through your voice mail options.

Secondly, it's most likely nothing and you're just being paranoid because you're home alone. Make sure all the windows and doors are locked and go put on a funny movie to take your mind off of it.

My mind tends to play wicked games on me when I'm home alone. Those are the nights I bury my head under the covers in a futile effort to fall asleep.

If it was in your voice mail the number should also be in the "missed calls" or possibly "incoming calls" listing.

It's a possibility, but when I'm in a dead zone and someone calls me it doesn't show up as a missed call on my log. It will just be kicked straight into voicemail, like the OP. But, it can't hurt to check!

I agree that it is probably a prank but check your locks and keep on dis'n while watching a funny movie (I like you've got mail when trying to relax and unwind) I am sure everything will be ok:wizard:

I wish-with my splotchy signal, the phone didn't even ring.

I should have just went and stayed with my parents. I've made it 3 nights alone (1st 3 alone since I got married) but now I'm starting to hit paranoia levels. I'm considering sleeping in the living room because it's not as scare as the bedroom, although I know that makes no sense. I like being where the doors are, I guess.

I'm not overly paranoid right now. I even have the sliding glass door open, but it's an apartment on the second floor, so that's on the deck-the nosey people downstairs would notice quick enough if someone tried that way.

Oh, and I'm watching american inventor. Not funny, but far from scary and paranoia inducing. Probably HGTV next. I don't think I'll be really scared until I lay down.

Wow, Pop Daddy responded. I feel special! ha I wouldn't mind a dog, a little yappy one that would bite on command. hehe

Sleep with your TV on thats what I have to do if DH is out of town.
Does your VM not give the option of getting back what you deleted?
I hope everything is okay:hug:

dont matter, any bad guy heres a dog, he is leaving, cause everyone is awake

Call your Dad he will make you feel better:)

Before you totally freak out, is it possible you misunderstood? Is it possible that it was a wrong number and the caller, thinking he was calling someone else was trying for a play on words and said "Reading, writing and ROBBIE"?

Hopefully it's just a harmless wrong number. But yeah, lock the doors and leave the lights on just in case!

I TOTALLY agree. The guy said his name was Robbie, so I would say that's definitely what he said, and it's just a wrong #. I remember getting freaked out by a message on my machine once, but when other people listened to it, it didn't say what I thought it said.

Nothing to worry about!:thumbsup2

Well, to add to my freaking out drama, the lights are flickering and the outside lights went out totally for a few minutes. I think things are settled now, but I RAN for my phone like a crazy woman (not that I ever said I wasn't). It's been storming here today.

I am sort of a student....I've technically finished my graduate program, just need to defend my thesis. So I'm not taking that too seriously.

Sweet angel, you make an excellent point, one that makes much more sense than what I "heard." Who knows what it said.

Like I said, I think it was a recording. Maybe spam for my cell phone?

The message she received made reference to her being a student. If she's not a student then she knows it's the wrong #. But if she is ... well, that would be creepy!

thanks for clearing that up for me... I was so busy thinking about her being home alone, that eluded me. I'm one of those wives home alone a lot since my husband is a Firefighter. the first few weeks were the worst:scared:
