I was at the gym today, in the womens fitness room. (no men allowed) but one entire wall is a window and anyone can see in. I was in there with one other woman, and a bunch of high school aged girls wearing next to nothing.

There was a super creepy man, leering in the window at the young girls. I went out and asked him if he was looking for someone or needed somthing and he ran off without a word, he clearly knew he was being creepy. He was back within 2 minutes!! I asked the other adult woman what she thought, and she agreed that this man was off and she said that if I hadnt said anything to him she was going to. She did lecture the teens about safety, they did the in one ear out the other thing. I don't think they were taking it serious.

I went to the front desk, young kid working, to mention it and the kid did not really take me serisously. Said the guy comes in everyday and is a regular. Then I felt like I was overeacting and went back up to my treadmill. I felt kind of silly.

So I go back up,as soon as I see him, I get that same creepy feeling, this guy is not right! So I approach him again (to ask him to take a hike) again, he does not respond, just scurries off. I came home, it is still bothering me. I called the police, they told me they could take a report, but the officer really again made me feel like I was overreacting and that it is not that big of a deal. I am telling you, this guy was CREEPY. The way he was staring and the way he ran off when I approached him. I just have that gut feeling that this creep is dangerous. Is it weird to make a police report over a creepy feeling?

I did also leave a mesage for th owner of the gym to call me.

BTW the girl that works at the jucie bar refuses to wait on him, she said he gives her the creeps too.

I wish that I would have the courage to do the same if I were in that situation.

Do not be discouraged and do not take your gut feelings lightly.

You may have just saved someone's life.

I don't think you over-reacted at all.

You confronted the guy, you reported it to the gym management, and you callled the police. I don't know what more you could do.

Does make me wonder if maybe he was mentally handicapped in some way, or something.

But I do agree, it would make me nervous too.

i'm sure the high school girls heard what you had to say, but just assumed that there was nothing they could do about it, you know?

i remember what it was like as a teenager, so i like to try and give them the benefit of the doubt when i can.

i'm glad you're trying to contact the owner tho, i think that's a good idea.

unfortunatly he's not breaking any laws, but i don't blame you for getting the "Creep" factor from him.

If you have a camera phone, snap his picture.

If there are security cams, demand they be reviewed and request a staff member posted at the women's locker room.

Request that blinds/curtains be hung to block the window. I have never heard of an exposed locker room.:confused3

What is occurring is completely unacceptable. There is no excuse for the gym to not at least try to protect its members even if it seems to be an "overreaction".

she didn't say it was a locker room, she said it was a women's fitness room.

there's a lot of gyms that have seperate rooms for seperate workouts/machines/etc that are only divided by windows.

There are creepy people in general at the gym, men and women. It just is what it is. I don't know what law he is breaking. Staring at someone is not a crime and if he is a member he isn't trespassing.

I pretty much ignore people while I am at the gym but if anyone is going to be there half naked I sure as heck will at least look.

One of the gyms I belong to has an 18 yr old minimum so they are all legal :thumbsup2

Wow, I would have been creeped out as well, especially since it's a women-only place! That's just... wrong. :crazy2:

It's funny, I read the title of this thread and got goosebumps; there's a creepy guy that goes to the Planet Fitness that I go to. He uses the treadmills, and goes really slow and just staaaares ahead of him, where the elliptical machines happen to be. And I've seen him in the past, move from one treadmill to another to be behind people who are on the elliptical (I assume, anyway). I don't have the guts to say anything, but I'm slowly becoming more friendly with the staff (I assume it's because I'm there almost every day, heh) and I soon might say something, even in passing. I was wondering, when I saw the title, if you went to the same PF I did! :)

Its the exercise room-not the locker room

Sorry-its the half undressed girls that should be told to put more clothes on

I thought it was a locker room. Oops.

Well then yes, a bit of an overreaction. But if he isn't working out at all--he really has no business being on the property.

I get that guys are going to ultimately get a glimpse of cleavage or a perfect booty at the gym--but to stare and stare and stare. Ewwwwwwww.

if he's a paying member, he can go there and sit on a machine and do nothing. that's somewhat of the problem. if you're not using the machines you shouldn't be allowed to be there.

and as for guy's staring, it happens all the time, some men are just less obvious about it. it happens more often than you probably think.

Just something about him was creepy. And he did not react like a normal person when I approached him. The weird scurry thing was especially creepy. His staring was abnormal, not checking someone out. I just would never want to run into him in the parking lot at night, if I was alone. I would def run away from this man.

I had the same type experience, but at a park. I was with my kids a few years ago. My youngest was a baby, so I was directing most of my attention to her. The park was busy right after school let out, but soon families started leaving and I noticed that it was only us and a man in his late 20s/early 30s. He was just standing around. At first I thought he was waiting for someone, or that his kids had gone to the bathroom, etc.

My older kids were at the swing area and I was at the toddler area. I started watching him and I noticed he was staring at one of my daughters. I didn't want to overreact, but I called out for her to help me with the baby. She jumped off her swing and came over to us. A few minutes later I glanced back at the swings and noticed the man swinging in her swing.

It was just creepy...I couldn't describe it. Again, I thought I was overreacting, but I told the other kids to grab their jackets because we would be leaving soon. My kids had dropped their coats in a pile on a picnic table by the swings.

I told my daughter to help the baby into her car seat and started to make my way to her jacket. The man was now standing and rubbing the seat of the swing against his crotch. He suddenly stopped when he saw I had turned to his direction. I picked up the jacket and he said something to the effect that he was getting off the swing to bring me my kid's jacket.

I just rushed to my car. I didn't want to freak out my kids so I waited until I was home to call the non-emergency number to our police station (on the same block as the park, btw).

The dispatch person actually asked me what I wanted them to do about it. Then she patched me to an officer. He told me they couldn't just arrest someone because I had a creepy feeling.

I was embarrassed/shocked...I just thought they might look him up as a sex offender or maybe go a few feet from the station and check the park.

Good for you! Scummy creep needs to get his personal turn on site turned OFF. :thumbsup2

Tell them to handle it just like if someone called in about a drunk driver. They should go and check it out and if they think there is a problem they should take the appropriate action.

One of the best pieces of advice I was ever given is that when the little voice in your head is telling you that something is wrong about a situation, you have to listen! You absolutely did the right thing!

Absolutely! It's a woman's instinct to protect the young. You did the right thing, I've seen catastrophes averted by abiding to instinct. :thumbsup2

Dollars to donuts he is mentally disabled. That doesn't mean he can't cause someone harm though. A call into the owner might not hurt. He may know the guy and may be able to contact his caretakers/parents to get the issue resolved (if that is his issue).
