My DH would like to put our entire purchase of our DVC purchase on his Delta Amex card to get the double miles.

I would then give him the cash for the purchase, as it is my purchase and held in my name.

Can we do this?

Thanks, April

As far as I know, this is fine. I put my original purchase on a credit card and paid it off with cash just like you are talking about.

If you are purchasing from Disney, you can pay with a credit card. If you are buying resale, you cannot. I don't know which credit cards Disney accepts. Some people here have used a Disney VISA card to purchase DVC and then applied the reward dollars towards their dues.

Hi Lisa my friend,

Nice to see your posts are with me. I think that per reward value, our amex, visa, etc other than my Disney Visa all offer dollar per dollar reward point or sky mile point. With my Disney Visa I have to spend $100 per one Disney dollar. I use it because of the low interest rate but it is not my favorite to get something back.

Here we go again, wish me luck.

tacomaranch-

I have been following your DVC progress for the last month and just wanted to wish you the best. I can't beleive how long the wait for ROFR is and I was so sorry to see that you didn't get the contract you wanted.

As you can tell I am new to the process too and still waiting for ROFR decission. My 30 days will be up in the next couple of days. I am not sure I can do it again no matter how much I want the Wildreness Lodge.

Best of luck with your purchase through disney. I am sure you will enjoy the extra years and not having to play the waiting game.

Beachwarmer,

Thanks for keeping up with us. We did wait a long time to get refused and it was a disappointment but we know someday the right thing will happen and we will be there.

I sure do wish you luck on getting your contract! How long is it now? I think they do them every two weeks so we just got in very early and had to wait. You will have an answer soon.

My backyard is Yellowstone park so we have do desire to ever go to WL but if you are ever craving the WL come to visit me. I live on a small 43 acre ranch with horses, mustangs, fishing, hunting, trees and so much more fun. We have a whitewater raft for summer and several sleds (snowmachines) for winter. STaying with us would be a great vacation.

All the best, April

Beachwarmer -

Did you know that you can purchase VWL from Disney direct? You just have to commit to 150 point minimum. No ROFR, no hassles, and you can make reservations right away.
Good luck with your resale.

Hi April -- I was so disappointed you didn't get your OKW contract, I have to hang around to see how everything turns out, in hopes that something even better will turn up for you! (I guess all those Disney movies I grew up on have conditioned me to believe there will be a happy ending. pixiedust: )

My comment about the Disney VISA was intended to mean that the reason I know Disney takes credit cards is because people have posted using the Disney VISA. But they take other cards as well and it sounds like you have done your homework on your rewards programs to see which card gives you the best deal! (I drive my DH crazy sometimes because depending on where we are shopping and what we are buying, certain CCs give us more rewards than others and heaven help him if he uses the wrong card!)

Lisa,

I know exactly what you mean about using the credit cards. I have a stack, honestly over 50 in a bowl in my dresser. I have the % rate on each one and the grace period. My DH thinks I am nuts.

It's the ocd in me. I didn't mean to be offensive about the Disney Visa, it justn't seem to be a "good deal" to have to spend $100 for a dollar. I need to get airline points so I can get home.

Lisa, thanks for staying with us on this drama and long path. We didn't give up, but are finally working with Timeshare Store and feel so much better with Jerry and his honest straight forward approach.

DH and I did speak for hours yesterday after Church. We went to the brew pub, ordered up a few darks, pulled out the DVC book and the 10-key. We had a final decision and then got back home to find that Jerry did his homework and found a beautiful contract. We are going to speak again this evening and either make an offer with Jerry or buy Direct SSR.

Stay with us! April

I love Yellowstone! How many points do you charge for 5 nights in the off season? :rotfl:

April,
You might want to call AMEX first and see if they only allow "X" amount of dollars per purchase/month. Sometimes they put a cap on what you are allowed to earn. It would be very disappointing to charge the entire amount hoping for some free plane tickets, etc. and then find out only a small portion would be eligible...you've already been through enough disappointments with ROFR!!! Please let us know what you find out.

We did this when we purchased our 240 SSR points last year. That purcahse alone was nearly enough for a free SkySaver ticket.

Thanks very much for your good wishes. Our contract was submitted to Disney October 16th so my wait has to be up in the next couple of days as the 30 days will be up. I have watched people who submitted way after we did get their answer and it has been very frustrating. There seems to be no method to the Disney madness.

We wanted WL because we will be going down every second year for Christmas, plus love the small size and Mk access. My DD was born on the 25th so the only way for her to get a special day is to head to disney. We did it last year for her 3rd birthday and she loved it. We were at the Poly and it just did not feel like Christmas as much as at the WL.

Yellowstone sounds wonderful and your ranch sounds like paradise. Can you believe that I am canadian and live in Montreal where Bombardier makes SKI-DO0's but have never been on them. We have a cottage, but it is on an island so we can only get there in the summer. And contrary to my user name, I rarely get to the beach. I came up with the name back in 2000 when I was living in Bermuda and registared. Now Florida once a year is my beach hang out.

Hi Lisa,

You are yours are always welcome at Tacoma Ranch. I have 1 adopted mustang right now who we got on June 10th, can you believe my DS has been on him? I have been on him and he takes a bit. There are also 14 other horses from grade to draft in the back 40. I keep Cowboy my baby mustang here on the house property. We have heated swimming pool, tanning bed, fishing pond, rivers, trees and all the toys you need to make it here in western Wyoming.

No points needed my friend, just call me first so I can make some dinner.

I did call DVC and they said yes to the Amex, and we have way too much open to buy on the card. I wondered if they are going to do a double the miles for the holidays like last year? Calypso I am going to check on the cap. I really don't need more disappointments. Tomorrow morning we will know for sure if we go one more time with a resale or just say &+@$# it and buy direct.

Thanks, April

Thanks Calypso,

I am only now wondering if they are going to do the double rewards like last year. We both have extremely high credit scores and it seems that at Christmas each card company is fighting for us to use their card. I want the delta miles as our big expense if flying out of SLC.

DH said he has the 25% right now.

We are going to have an answer in the morning on a different resale or straight with SSR direct.

I will say that I am more impressed with Jerry each time I speak with him. The timeshare store is doing a great job and Jerry is really a straight forward guy. He offers what he can and says good luck. No pressure. He also is very knowledgeable about the market and resale. I just don't know if I can do another ROFR. Who knows maybe I can, we get ROFR and then we end up buying at AK with a full 50 years!

April
