Credit cards with rewards?

DH is looking to switch cc and we're trying to find one that gives the best kind of reward for us.

When this question has been asked here before, I've always recommended NatWest for the AirMiles reward - but the AirMiles tie-in is being pulled from next month :( We've thought about the Virgin card, but are not convinced we'd get much benefit from more Virgin miles than we already collect with the FF club, as we use other airlines just as often as Virgin.

We use the card for most major purchases, and pay off the balance each month, so rewards are more important than interest rates.

Any suggestions?

I noticed in our airmiles statement that LLoyds TSB are offering a CC which gives you airmiles - www.lloydstsb.com/creditcard. We have Tesco CC which helps you collect clubcard points which can be converted into holiday vouchers, airmiles,BA miles and lots of other things - www.tesco.com

The Thomas Cook card is quite useful and can be used for anything if booked through Thomas Cook shops or their call centre. I have used this card for quite a while and have bought Disney Tickets, SeaWorld tickets and car hire :)

Hubby and I have an American Express which gives you Aeroplan points when you use it - we get free flights all the time!

We have a clubcard as we live near a tescos! You can use it for airmiles, breakdown cover, MOT's holidays MFI...we get loads out of it!

We use Morgan and Stanley, gives us a cheque back every year based on how much you have used your credit card, you can use the money on anything you want.

We use both Amex and Morgan Stanley (for the places that don't accept Amex!) and both give us cash back :thumbsup2

I have got the Virgin Atlantic credit card. I've had it since March and earned over 9,000 miles already - the thing I like is that, even if I book with VH, I still get my airmiles form my VA flights PLUS if I use my CC to pay, I get double miles :thumbsup2 They are building up quite nicely and I'm really hoping that, when we pay off our car and our DVC payments in October, I will have earned the companion reward too (that would be a nice bonus) :)

There's a handy credit card rewards calculator at creditcardtuneup.com .
It will calculate which of the various rewards cards will pay you the most for your normal spending. A few of the better ones tend to be the AmEx Blue Cash, Citi Driver's Edige, and Chase Freedom card.

We have natwest credit card and have saved over 4,500 air miles up to date. The problem we found with airmiles in the past is you still have to pay airport tax per person so it can work out as expensive as if you'd booked a cheaper carrier and paid fully in cash. We've had some good deals on uk hotels, attractions, etc. Natwest are starting their own points system which will pay airport tax as well as the flight cost, it'll be interesting to see how many points you need for flights, hotels, though.

I might look into eurostar/dlrp hotels to use my airmiles up if we start saving the new points.

The only cc I use is Tesco which I pay, online, as soon as I've made a purchase :)

I've been doing this around a year now and have almost £400 worth of clubcard deals to spend somehow :thumbsup2
