I always call my credit card company when traveling so there are no issues with charging out of my normal area. My credit card company says I no longer need to do that as they are more likely to approve charges with cards that have the chip. I explained that I would have no phone service on the ship and they took my travel information even though they said it was not necessary. (I made an online charge last week and received a text alert asking to confirm if I had indeed made the charge.) Has anyone lately had an issue with using their chipped card on their shipboard account if they had NOT contacted their credit card company? This would be one thing I could take off of my pre-cruise list of 'to-dos'.
