Hi all,

My 3 friends and I (who will all be 21) will be travelling to WDW between Jan 2nd - 11th in 2013. It is our first big trip without our families (we are from Australia) and we will now all be responsible for ourselves! :grouphug: However we may have one issue.....In Australia credit cards are only given to those who have full time jobs and earn a certain amount of money. As we are all in college, we do not have a credit card as such. I however have a student credit card which looks exactly the same as a normal credit card but has a very small limit of only $300. My question - is there anything in WDW or Orlando in general that you must have a credit card for? E.g - I am happy to leave my credit card at check in at WDW but do not want to actually charge anything to it. We all have debit cards we can use though.

Any help would be great so we can organise ourselves in advance! :woohoo:

Thanks :)

I would think just a rental car? But even that you can usually get around.

If you have a debit card and it has either a Mastercard or Visa logo it is freely accepted at WDW.

We dont use credit cards either. But our debit cards do have a visa logo. We didnt use any credit card at all last month, just the debit.

Unless you feel the need to rent a car, you can just use your debit cards. WDW will ask for a card to guarantee on. But it is really not necessary. If you have cash, just offer cash for incidentals. If your hotel room is prepaid before you go, the cash deposit is what you make of it. If you want spending privileges, add more cash, if you want to spend as you go, don't bother. You will all be fine.

Cheshire Figment: Do the WDW hotels put a large hold on your debit card when you check in? I know a lot of hotels are doing this and it can really affect the use of your debit card for a few days.

I may not be CF, but I can say that as of last year, they do NOT put large holds on debit cards. I've traveled with my own for the past 3 years and have not had a problem nor has any of the money been taken out before check-out (unless, I intentionally went to the desk and "cashed out" previously, which I do like to do a few times during the trip).
