I may be wrong but I think most cards charge a 2% surcharge on you spend. The Nationwide card sounds great but because I go a few times a year to the US I have a dollar credit card opened with citi bank in the UK. i hope this helps

Most cards charge between 1.5% and 2.5%. This is a 'hidden charge' as it is not itemised on your credit card statement as a seperate item (it's just added to the exchange rate calculation they do), but you will find reference to it in your cards small print in the terms and conditions of use.

As Andy says, Nationwide Visa do not levy this charge.
