Credit card security

Sorry if this has been asked before..... I would like to prepay a bit of my HRH bill before the upcoming trip. The hotel sent me the fax form. It is a little scary writing down my credit card # and then faxing it to whomever is at the fax machine. (I was burned in the Target fiasco) Am I just being paranoid? Anyone ever had any trouble with this?

There are other ways to go about paying it off. Macraven buys Universal gift cards instead and then pays with them at checkout. Other people will buy a prepaid credit/debit card and use that. If you are uncomfortable, there are other ways around it.

i would have no worries about it.


my cc is on file with the Loews hotels and never had an issue regarding security.

many do fax that info so they can prepay on their booking/account.


have not read any posts/threads stating cc fraud happened to them.


do what you are comfortable with.


maybe you could buy UO gift cards (instead of payments to the hotel)and use them on the hotel payment when you arrive.

yes, i buy UO gift cards and pay on my hotel bill when i check in.

Faxing (landline to landline) has always been, and probably will always be, FAR more secure than putting your CC info over the internet.

The person that grabs your fax is an employee that is in a trusted, and totally easily identified, position.

Just like Mac I have one of my CC on file too with Loews Hotels. It makes it nice when booking. Just book the room and when they ask how will you be paying, I tell them there is a card on file with the last 4 numbers are..., and that's it. When checking out I have to do nothing.

Once in a while we have done the gift cards too, prepaid Visa card, and with our separate check card for our vacation account.

This is the best solution for most people. Get a free checking account for your vacations and put money in there. It's a great way to save for the vacations and you get a check card too.
