credit card or cash hotel Deposits

Hi

I have just had a bit of a blind panic, in October 2014 I booked the Sejours et affaires through expedia and when we got there paid for our stay upfront.

This year we have booked the same hotel but through hotel.com for August and at the weekend was getting all the paperwork sorted and noticed right at the bottom that it states a credit card or cash deposit is required.

As we never paid a deposit in October last year and just paid for the stay on arrival can I ask any DISSERs have you had to pay a deposit as well as paying for your stay as soon as you arrive or do you think they meant deposit as in to hold the room, as Hotel.com already have my debit card details on file.

As we save throughout the year for our trips I do not have any spare to pay for the hotel as soon as we get there plus a deposit as well. For anyone with advice it is a aparthotel so does not have a mini bar, just beds, kitchen, shower.

I booked thru the UK site and had to pay a deposit. I don't have any experience with hotels.com bookings though. Can you call them? I remember the deposit was pretty small, maybe 10% of the total.

Thanks I chose on hotel.com to pay when we got there, so had no deposit to pay to hold the room, just had a scare when in the small print it seems to make out that a damage deposit is needed to be paid as well as the room payment when we go, which we didn't pay in October.
