Not sure where to start this discussion, but I'll try it here first.

We like to leave a CC on file at our resort and just use our room key for expenses. My Mom will be joining us on our upcoming trip and wants to leave her card on file as well. Can we do that? I can't remember if we've ever tried to leave 2 different cards on file, one for our room keys, and one for my Mom's room key?

Any ideas?

Maybe they can link her card to her key. I got two keys, one with my name on it and one with my sons name on it. They were able to link our park tickets to each key so I'm thinking the cc can also be linked to a specific room key.

Only one credit card per room. Your mom will have to use her credit card to pay for her purchases as she purchases and it will not be attached to her room ID.

Mom joined us on on of our trips to WL and I remember this one - we were fighting over whose card to use!(God, I miss her!!!:sad2: )

Although it's true, you can only put down one card per room, you CAN go down mid-stay - or anytime - and switch cards!

I thought about putting a cc on the the room key but we also have free dining and I am scared they will accidently charge my room key for dining purposes. Anyone have problems with this?:confused3

Thanks for the help. A couple more questions. The purchase isn't finalized on the CC on file until you Ok it, right? So we can all make purchases, add up her purchases from the detailed breakdown, and then she can put that amount on her card, right? I think that's an option. Maybe we'll do every couple days.

I haven't had them accidently charge our CC instead of using dining plan credits. One time, they used 2 dining credits when I ordered for me and DS, but Allen was an infant at the time and he didn't have a dining plan! I wanted to pay cash for his meal but that was too confusing I suppose. We'll see how it goes this time around. He's older but still too young for dining plan - we chose a lot of buffet options so we don't have to pay for him to eat (he's 19 months and eats like a monster!).

TheRustyScupper answered a similar question recently and I'm pretty sure he said that it was something they can do. He did mention that not all CM's are familiar with how it's done, but you can ask for a front desk manager. He even gave the name of the option, so you'd know specifically what to ask for. Unfortunately, I can't find the thread with the search feature. It may be worthwhile to drop him a private message though.

We did have them doule charge us last year. Our CM dinner was charged to our debit card and dining credits. I didn't realize till I got home, just took a phone call to straigten out. This year I will look closer before I leave.

. . . TheRustyScupper answered a similar question recently and I'm pretty sure he said that it was something they can do . . .

Yep. Let's go through the process again, as it can get confusing.

Example: (no limit of keys and credit cards)
. . . Mom-daughter in same room (or three golf buddies, or four bridemaids).
. . . They want purchases on their room key to go to their own credit card.

1) Mom checks-in first.
2) Mom tells the CM to "SHARE" the ressie. (MUST USE THIS EXACT WORD.)
3) CM will make a dummy ressie for the Daughter for the same room.
4) Sort of like Room #1111a for Mom and Room # 1111b for Daughter.
5) CM checks-in Mom using Mom's credit card.
6) CM checks-in Daughter using Daughter's credit card.
7) The room costs are split automatically, or one person can pay for it all.
8) Any purchases on key #1111a go to Mom's credit card.
9) Any purchases on key #1111b go to Daughter's credit card.
10) Exception - charges to the room (phone calls, etc) go to the first check-in person.

NOTE: Many CM's do not know about this. However, I have done it many times, both as a CM and as a guest. If the CM says it can't be done, ask them to consult the Front Desk Operations Manual, where it is spelled out in detail, and step-by-step. If they still refuse, ask to see a manager. ALL resorts can do this, including staying in DVC room on points.

NOTE2: If Mom paid in full for the room in-advance, the CM can still split the charges. The CM can credit Mom for 1/2 the room and charge the Daughter for 1/2 the room. Thus, each can still pay for 1/2 the room.
