Hi Everyone,

My family and I headed to Portofino Bay next week for a 5 day stay :). For the first time (our last trip was in Sept. 2018), I'm going to go ahead and leave charging privileges open on our room because our college age DD joining us and I want her to be able to charge to the room via her key card. Is the hold charge going to be $1000 charged at once at check-in or a daily charge of $200 on my credit card? I guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter but I'm curious. This fall we were recently at the Loews Miami Beach and that hotel sends a daily charge per day. TIA for any information.

While I don't know the answer, I have another question to ask. Is there a way to NOT have a hold charge on my account during my stay? Sure, I would like to be able to charge things to my annual pass but I don't need them to hold x amount of money thus negating what I have available.

I told them I wasn't charging anything to the room and if they could not do the hold. They told me no problem and authorized a penny on my card lol

They will also let you lower it. We made it $50 a day.

The charging would be on your Resort room key and is set up on check in. Not your AP.

If you have an AP you able to get a discount on your per night room charge if it’s noted online or when you call for your reservation.

You also receive discounts on food and merchandise and parking according to the level of your AP.

I’am not aware of any charging privileges on your AP.

You can discuss with the desk staff on check in what charging amounts you want if any during your stay.

They offer the hold to your account to charge back to your room account if wanted. Many people do enjoy this option.

I have understood in the past they can handle it a few ways.

1. You can pay for your stay in total on check in with no hold charges to your account.

2. You can to have only a limited amount put on the hold ie..$50.00 should you decide to charge back to your room small amount daily.

3. Request no hold on card for charging back to room at all.

I have always found the desk staff very accommodating to whatever your request is on this matter.

Robo… perfect post!

You cover all these bases and I’m sure all appreciate what you wrote

Did I read somewhere that you can’t decline the hold if you do the online checkin?

Can the charging privileges be added to some of the room keys but not all of them? We enjoy having the freedom to charge items to the room but my in-laws will be staying with us for part of the trip. I trust them not to charge anything and they would pay us back for anything they did charge but I am curious if it is possible.

Yes, you can do that, not everyone has to be added to the charging privileges.
