Credit card for DVC resale or to buy from Disney

Hi all,

What types of payment does the timeshare store and Disney accept for DVC points? I probably do not need to finance the purchase. I can take money out of my home equity at much lower rate. Can I use credit card for my purchase?

Can't help you with any info on resales, but Disney will take credit cards. I know they take Visa, MC & Amex. Not sure about Discover or any of the others. FWIW, Disney will also take a check.

All resales usually will only accept a certified check for final payment. Sometimes they will work with you to accept a credit card check, but that has to be sent in about 2 weeks prior to close for the funds to be available. DVC will accept credit cards for payment, I've paid for all my points that way. I charge the balance, pay it off and end up with TONS of rewards!!

You can only use your CC to buy direct from DVC. The closing companies may take a credit card for their fees but not for the monies that go to the buyer. If you pay with a regular check, they put a 2 week hold to make sure it doesn't bounce. I wouldn't recommend a credit card check b/c the cc company will normally sock you with a 3% surcharge.
