Credit card debt

At the moment i living off of credit cards. I charge a car repair that was over 300.00 dollars. I know where working now it would take me 6 months to make 300.00 dollars the way they is cutting hours. So I had to charge the car repair so i can look for another job.

I use to have 5000 dollar credit card debt when I was young, got paid off and don't charge nothing unless i have to.

What has help is when they came out with the visa check cards. I use it anywhere Visa s expect.

I loved my Visa check card.

I will have that 300.00 dollars paid off as soon as baseball season start. I will be working 2 jobs. I am putting all my pay checks in my checking account until found another job.

I am with Dax. In college I accumulated a great deal of credit card debt. I just finished paying it off with consumer credit - I used my tax refund to pay off the final balance. It was a fantastic feeling of relief! I learned a lot. I don't charge anything anymore. Eventually we probably will again, but I am still working on getting my husbands debt paid off from his college. It was overwhelming for awhile with my debt, my husbands debt and school loans - but I don't think it is uncommon.

PS - But it wasn't 32 grand!

I don't think I could sleep nights if we had a CC bill of $32,000! They should look into refinancing their home & having that incorporated in their payment. At least, they can write off the interest then! We probably have about $600 in debt & that's making me crazy. ::yes::

wowsers @ $32,000! Although I heard on Oprah that the average amount of debt people are in is around $37,000 (don't know if that's just cc debt or etc.) My DH and I haven't had a credit card in 2 years, mostly because of a $300 debt from a while ago that we just let keep slipping through the cracks and now it's being disputed. I'd rather have $300 debt than $32,000 though, whoa baby! I have to admit having use of a credit card would be nice but DH is still very paranoid about the troubles he got himself into with his cc when he was younger.

No. We have 2 cards and don't use them that much. When we do, we pay the full balance each month.

I guess its all perspective. I was telling my DH about it and his reply was I'd rather have 32k in cc debt than our mortgage. Apparently they put more than 50% down on their house, so I am sure they are in much better shape right now than we are;) She just said it so matter of factly I guess that was the most shocking.

We pay off our credit card each month (also charge everything to get frequent flier miles). I've never had more than $2000 in credit card debt, and that was right after I graduated from college and was setting up my apartment.

I truly can't understand why anyone would carry over $30k in credit card debt, and put 50% down on a house? Mortgage rate - 7%, credit card rate - 12% (for a low rate one?) Different strokes though.
