I'm not, but my best friend is. But I'm going to file your aideas away to use myself someday.

Anyway my friend's mom has been dying for her first grandchild for a long time. So what's a good way to announce it?

I saw a thread mention a baby themed dinner--with baby back ribs and baby carrots.

any other ideas?

We bought a card and a bib that said something like "I Love my Grandma". My MIL was still confused for a few minutes but she eventually caught on.

For DD we took a picture of DS and photoshopped the shirt to say "I Am The Big Brother" and sent it to our family but none of them read the shirt. We had to call them and tell them to take a closer look at it and then call us back. ;)

I think the baby themed dinner is a cute idea. I am sorry I can't be more help. With my first child it was Christmas time so "Christmasy stuff" revolved around tell dh and family members.

For dh, our stockings were hung up on the fireplace. I took the test and put it in his stocking. When he came home from work, I told him Santa visited early and he checked his stocking. I don't know what he was thinking when he opened that!

To tell family members, we gave them Christmas cards signed Lane, Melissa and baby Vance. It took a few members a few minutes but it was a fun way to tell them all!

That's really cute! Maybe it'll work for me some day. :)

My SIL had a cute idea. She bought new mugs for mom and dad that said "I love my Grandma" and "I love my Grandpa". They'd found out they were expecting around Easter that year, so that was the Easter present.

Grandma was confused, but Grandpa caught on very quickly!

When were were expecting our first, DH called his mom and asked her 'what would you like the baby to call you?' She cried-and said Mema. (Just wish I could find her I love my Mema stuff)

Congrats to your friend!

We did something similar. With our first, we were getting ready to share the news around the time of my dad's birthday. So we gave him his present, but with a "Happy Birthday Grandpa" card. I still remember the sweet look on his face. :sunny:

You could just have your husband jump around on the sofa and bowing down with his hands to his face professing his love and undying affection for you............... :teeth: :lmao:

I bet her parents would actually get that too. :teeth:

i said, 'hey mom, call maury povich, i'm pregnant and don't know who the dad is' :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
well, ok, it wasn't exactly like that....

We put the ultrasound photo in a frame for Father's/Mother's Day for the first one...

For Mother's Day we gave my mom a bib that said, "I love my Grandma".

After conceiving my second ds against the odds I surpised my family at Christmas with a tag attached to a little doll that said, "Hi Everyone. I'm coming in August 2005!"

We found out the day before Father's day. So, we called our dads and said HI GRANDPA!

Our first was the first grandchild on hubby's side and we announced it Christmas morning (way early as I was due on Labor day, lol). We bought them a book about sharing their story, A Grandparent's Story, maybe? Anyway, they caught on pretty quickly. Good thing too because the smell of turkey was beyond sickening for all three of my pgs and I ended up sick most of that day. For the last one, we told them about a week before Christmas that they'd better make it a ham that year. Again, they knew right away.

aww these are sweet, just like reading them

Too bad there aren't any holidays or birthdays coming up... :)

keep the ideas coming!

when I announced our first pg to my parents, I created a valentine party invite and gave it to them (we were due right around valentine's day). It invited them to a valentines party at brigham and women's hospital, in honor of baby T, actual date tba. lol. It was fun watching the light dawn when they read it.

This one is awesome!

My parents were on a trip in Australia for a month, and I found out a week after they left so I had to wait until they returned home to tell them the good news. Me and my husband rushed to the airport to pick my parents up. We took them home and than told them that we were going for dinner and insisted that they came with us. Before picking up my parents from the airport I went to Swiss Chalet and had my plan put into action. When we all finnally arrived at the restaurant the waitresses brought out my parents' drinks which were served in baby bottles and their food on a kid's fish plate with a rattle on top as the garnish. I also color-cordinated both my parents items with blue for my dad and pink for my mom. The one thing I stressed beforehand was to deliver the drinks with the meals -- this is very important if you decide to to this so everything flows together. They were shocked! My mom looked at my dad and said were going to be grandparents. I did the exact same thing with my husband but I added a few extra things like a bib which the waitress put around his neck and a Snoopy toy to place beside his meal.
