We are going for the first time as a family in Sept (16-22). We have been unofficially planning this trip since DD was born 4 years ago. We always said we will celebrate her 5th birthday in Disney. So this trip will be all about DD and her birthday. However, I want to do something special for DH...thanking for many this magical trip happen. He busted sweat (sales) for a healthy bonus this year and among other reasons (helping with the kidsm being a great dad blah blah). Although this is our DD's birthday his birthday is in the beginning of Sept.

What can I do for him? Any ideas? Have a cake for him on one of his ADR? I want a big spot light on him LOL. I want something for him to come back home and tell his family/friends..."hey guess what happened to me...." Help me out please. :confused3

Thank you for the bottom of my heart.

If you are eating at Coral Reef you can call and make an appointment for them to hold up a sign saying Happy Birtday during the dive. Also make sure your daughter and he get Happy birthday buttons at WDW all the characters really made over my daughter during our recent trip when they saw her button. She got a couple of Birthday cards signed by all the Princesses at one meal.

I'm not so "creative" in that this came from many others ideas...

This past trip was my DH's birthday when we went to WDW. Now DH loves WDW however, I assure you he'd rather have had an adults only vacation at BBG- our other favorite spot :) Since we could only afford 1 trip this year- well Disney it was (of course since then we've had a few bonuses so we're going to Disney again in September :cool1: )

Anyway, for DH we had dinner at the Coral Reef. Now I know this place gets some cruddy reviews sometimes but other than always having to wait past our ADR time- we LOVE it here. DH likes it better than LeCellier if you can believe that!

So I set up a cake (ordered a 10" so I could have his favorite- yellow cake & chocolate frosting- the smaller ones only come choc, choc or vanilla, vanilla) and a diver to come down and hold a sign for him. I put my three boys names on it saying "We love you Daddy".

He loved it! Told all his buddies & the inlaws about it.:cloud9:

I have often thought about trying the parasailing for a once in a lifetime experience, but we mostly go in Dec. now. Maybe one day i'll get a chance.:thumbsup2

When you say family trip, are you referring to your immediate family or are others joining you? If you have the option of having a sitter for a little while, I'd book a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness or Port Orleans. They will allow you to bring champagne, chocolates, etc., if you so desire. It could be a romantic time for just the 2 of you letting him know how much you appreciate him. If you don't have a sitter, you could drop your DD off at one of the childcare locations & let her enjoy playing with kids her age for a little while. Personally, I think it will be tough doing anything cake related without your DD thinking it's for her, or getting upset that daddy's getting a cake on her birthday trip. That is, if you've made a big deal about the trip being for her birthday. I'll try to come up with some other ideas.

My twins- who turned 5 the week after our trip had no problem w/ getting daddy a cake- especially since I had them join in on the planning. They had cake for their birthday on another night.

Wow you guys are great...please keep them coming. Thanks a lot.

I have ressie at the Coral Reef and I was thinking of changing the banner/sign to his name...and use his picture instead. Also order a cake.

I see other poster point of view of DD saying something that its her birthday and why is DADA's name on her cake. LOL The immediate family is traveling. I do love the carriage ride but we will not have a sitter. DD will be turning 5 and DS is 2.

Ok keep them coming.
