I have tons of paper that I would love to use in a digital layout. Do I just scan it? Has anyone else done this and does it turn out okay?

Thanks in advance.

Buffy, I hope you don't mind if I add a question on to yours, but I am a newbie to digital scrapbooking and was wondering if I use PSE can I still use files that are PSP? If so, how do you "convert" them to PSE? :confused3

Thanks again for letting me tag onto your question...hopefully someone can answer both of our questions!

Sorry I can't help with either of your quetions.

I was wondering the same thing...i also have a lot of stickers I had bought when I was traditional scrapbooking.

Thanks,
jessica

PS: Have you noticed once you go digital, the thought of paper scrapping is...scarry =)

I've scanned in several stickers and used them successfully in digital layouts. I had planned on doing the same with papers, but piecing the 12x12 paper back together after an 8x10 scan scares me, so I haven't tried yet. I also returned a huge stack of unopened stickers and paper kits to the store and got a big chunk of money back, which was very nice!

Regarding files, most digital kits and embellishments that you find online are in .png format which works equally well with PSP or PSE or any other graphics program (backgrounds sometimes come in .jpgs as well). The only problems you may find are on templates that you can download, they may be in .psd format which is for PS/PSE or .psp/.pspimage format which is for PSP. Most templates now come with layered .png files for use in any program.

Hope that helps your file question, let me know if you have others. :)

You can piece it or if it is an 8.5x11 and you want 12x12 you can just scan as large of a square as you can and tell the scanner you want it to be 12x12 instead of actual size (or a larger percentage however your scanner works.) This really only works on things that are small designs like a whole page of flowers or dots or something.
