I had originally posted this before in the "new disney" and a kind member showed this section! Heres my question:

Hello. I have been searching a lot of youtube.com and other sites- viewing peoples vacation documentaries. I am going in June for my 1 year anniversary and I would like to record and incorporate them into a live documentary of my trip, including pictures to. I have a regular video camera that uses the small tapes, and I also have a digital camera (somewhat old but I'm looking into getting a new one for the next trip. It's a Olympus Camedia and I never had a problem loading things onto my computer with usb). This camera has video tape ability but its not for a long periods of time. It uses a lot of space. Then my cell phone also records but they usually aren't clear and are only about 15 seconds each time. So my question is- do you know what people are using to record and then put them on their computer- then create videos with pictures and like action- and post them online? I have the Windows Movie Maker- so I've used that to make sideshows with pictures. But here are some examples of ones I've seen.

Also, besides the video camera or technology used, is there a certain computer program that people use? Of they you prefer? Thanks for all your help- I'm good using computers, camera, and stuff but I'm confused with what people use for this. I learn pretty easy and I know how to different editing programs.

A friend of mine video taped my wedding and put it on a DVD as a movie format- but they couldn't send me it through email- and I couldn't post it online because the file was to big.

Thanks! :flower3:

I have made videos out of pictures, but with no video mixed in. I uploaded relatively high resolution versions of the videos here and here. I also built downloadable executables that can be played on Windows computers. The picture quality is much higher with these versions. They are here. I use a program called Pictures2Exe from http://www.wnsoft.com. I don't think it does video.

I haven't been happy with the video we took in the past at WDW, so I haven't worked on combining it with pictures and sharing it. My wife's latest camera does both pictures and high def video (up to about 14 minutes per shot). On our next trip, I'm toying with the idea of bringing a field audio record and my wife's camera. I'll combine audio, pictures, and video into one movie. My guess is that it will be a fun project, but I'll fall back on picture slideshows for my main "documentary" rather than video. I'm a lousy videographer (it's really hard to do well) and an OK picture taker (it's much easier).

that is a common question,
but as I learned years ago from my photography instructors,
it's not the violin, it's the violinist

Mark will say that he's an Ok picture taker, but I think most people on here will agree with me that he is in the MAster category that he describes in his thread on the levels of photographers...

a better camera doesn't translate to better photos, it just doesn't hinder one who knows what they are doing..

You can do that all with Windows Movie Maker. I have used videos and pics with music or narration in the background. Once you finish the movie it can be saved to whatever quality you like depending on use. I usually save at the highest quality unless I put it on Youtube. If I want to make it a DVD movie I use MyDVD by sonic to burn it onto disc. You can also use MyDVD to change the quality depending how much you want to fit on a dvd. There are many websites for help on using Moviemaker. As far as how I get the video into the computer I use my digital camcorder and capture it through a firewire. I use Moviemaker to capture it. Using these programs is very time consuming. I just did a video of 600 disney pics with music and it took 3 hours for the whole process. Hope this helps. Pm me if you have any more questions. I am not a pro but I have used Moviemaker alot.

ProShow Gold allows video clips to be mixed in with the still images. It works well and adds some interest to the overall presentation. PS also allows transparent GIFs to be added to a slide as layers, whch can move independently of the main layer (for motion effects).

Here is a segment of a short show I made, all from still images:

or the exe version

PS also can output in HD if you have a way to get it into a TV.

Thanks this helps a lot. I will definitely look into it!
