I will be staying at the Caribbean Beach in a couple weeks. Can anyone tell me if there are hair dryers in the rooms? Thanks so much. I can't tell you how much I have learned from these boards!! You guys are awesome:D

I'd be interested in getting any helpful info about CBR....:D

Check with SeaSpray.... She knows everything!!!:p She even has an awesome sight about the CRB!!!

but I don't think there were hairdryers in the room. They did have minibars, but I have heard this is no longer the case. We stayed in Martinique Building 25 and loved it!
We are heading back to CBR on our next visit (if I don't talk DH into AKL).
Have a blast!

I stayed at CBR last August and I am going back again THIS August, in fact I just bought my airfare five minutes ago. Just ask for a dryer when you check in and they will make sure one is put in your room. CBR is fantastic and we had such a fun time there that we decided to go back, even though we had originally planned on going to BC this year. If you have any questions, I would be glad to help, just ask.

NewToWDW:

You can get a hairdryer from Housekeeping, once you get to your room :) Just call them and request a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, extra towels, pillows, blankets, etc when you first get into your room (they don't take the requests at the front desk when you're checking in, they will tell you to call Housekeeping yourself when you get to your room), and they will bring you whatever you ask for :) There is no charge for any of those items :) There are no longer mini-bars in the rooms, however.

Have a wonderful trip, CBR is a beautiful resort! If you're interested, I have many pictures and some info about CBR on my web pages, the links are below :)

...I checked out your CBR link and it was FANTASTIC! Great pics and very informative4. I have stayed at all the Mod's except for this one. Now I can't wait to go (Aug)!!!:earsgirl:

...which "island" location(and which bldg) would you recommend at CBR (near food court, pool, and bus stop)?

kimmar:

I personally like Martinique, building 25 because it's close to Old Port Royale, and non of the rooms, even the standard view rooms, have a view of the parking lot.

Other buildings close to OPR are:

Martinique 26
Martinique 24
Trinidad NORTH 31
Trinidad NORTH 32
Trinidad NORTH 33

Note: Trinidad SOUTH is VERY far, so please don't get confused between the two Trinidads!

Some people like Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51, these 2 buildings are the closest ones that are across the lake from OPR, but are considerably father than the buildings I mentioned above.

I hope you enjoy your stay at CBR! :)

...for your quick reply. Can you tell me if renovations are still going on, and will they be completed by late July-early Aug?
(BTW - I will definitely call the DC and put in a request for Martinique #25....!!!Thanks again!!!)

...so SeaSpray can read my post....!!:pinkbounc

Hi kimmar!

I just saw your post... I know that every single room at CBR has been completely refurbished and they have recently done touch-ups to the quiet pools and to the patio area behind OPR, in front of the pool bar. I haven't heard of any other refurbs, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any scheduled. I had heard a while ago that they might do some touch up work to the interior of the food court, but so far, no definite word. I will try to remember to call CBR tomorrow to see if they know anything about this yet!

We were just at the CBR pre-easter week. We loved it. We chose Aruba because we love the walk over the bridge and thru the lush greens to get to OPR. However, I didn't take enough care in picking the room and did get parking lot view. Not that the view mattered but I felt left out of everything. So I would still pick Aruba but something more on the side of the water or closer to the bridge. That walk is awesome ...we had ducks eating out of our hands and saw a herron catch a fish. Just beautiful.

The only construction I saw was a large green wall outside of OPR by the far door, not the main one. Never paid much attention to it.

The room was spotless...housekeeping brought me a blow dryer at 6:30 am when mine broke as we got ready for MK.

The food court was very good. Spotlessly clean. Service is a little slow just because the worker's move slow but they were so polite I didn't mind. The food variety was great...from junk to healthy.

We loved the CBR and it was in great shape...lots of disney magic there. We even got checked in at 11:30 am on pre-easter week when they were sold out!

Have fun...

These post sound GREAT (and so POSITIVE!!!!) I can hardly wait to go...
PS - has anyone been to CBR AND other Mod's that they can compare it with???? (we have been to them all, as well as Dolphin, so we don't want to be disappointed....BTW - we loved CSR the best of all the Mod's)

...to see if anyone will comment on my previous post...!!!!

I stayed at CBR in 1998, Dixie in 1999 (now PO Riverside) and CSR in 2001. We stayed at CBR before the renovations and our room (building 25) wasn't in that great of condition, but it was a great location and we liked the resort grounds. Of the three, we liked Dixie the best. I really didn't care for CSR, but I was only there for a long weekend and didn't see that much. With the rooms renovated, I'm sure CBR is better now and we would stay there again.

I am planning CBR in December, or possibly ASMu - depends on the finances. These posts have been very helpful. CBR sounds wonderful. I'm just about ready to call for my ressie. Are there non-smoking buildings or just non-smoking floors? Will ask for Martinique 25, Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. We'll be going without the kids for our 25th Anniversary. Any romantic suggestions; any building or room of the 3 I should ask for? Should we stay on the ground floor? We're planning 8 nights.
