Crazy ? - Resorts & Disney Dollars

Here's a question-

Do the resorts take Disney Dollars as payments toward a reservation? Some months are harder to save than others, so I thought about buying Disney Dollars (since you can't use them anywhere else) and sending those in as a payment? I know it would be easier to just send in a direct payment, but at least this way we wouldn't have a choice and could possibly even save more.

I know you can use them in the parks, but I wasn't sure about anywhere else.

Yes, you can pay your Disney resort bill with DD but I wouldn't suggest mailing them in for payment since that would be like mailing cash and if it is lost or stolen, you would be out of luck. We thought DD worked out great as they're taken nearly everywhere on site.

Great point. I always forget about the chances of things getting lost in the mail. I'll just keep paying for the trip as usual and just save disney dollars for extras in the park.

You could continue to purchase Disney Dollars and put them in a safe place. Take them with you and use them at check-in to pay off the room.

Speaking of using Disney Dollars... I have used them all over the resorts and parks, but have never used them in Downtown Disney, the Marketplace, West Side or Pleasure Island. Are they accepted there?

They are good at anyplace owned/run by Disney! ...and something else I JUST found out...they ARE good at the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom! (I'm not sure about the RC in DTD though)
