I am really really hoping to go to DL in Sept. There is 6 of us in ouf group. I priced Disneyland Hotel for us and it was $5000 then I priced it for my brother who has a family of 5 it was only $1900. What would happen if I lied and told them there was only 5 of us. My 2 youngest are twins. I know it has something to do with the fire marshals, but I cant see paying $3000 more for a little girl. I am one to go by the rules and I would probably be stressed out the whole time Im there but I was wondering what would happen if they found out there was really 6 of us instead of 5? :confused3

I have done that. It is illegal and I don't reccommend it, but I see what you mean on the price. The reason the fire marshalls need to know is if there is a fire they need to know how many people are in a room so they don't leave anyone behind. Having said that...........I'd lie.;)

Some friends of ours just did that exact thing. They had one kid sleep on the floor each night.

I know the reasons why you shouldn't do it, but I probably would lie myself in that instance.

My twins are only 4 and I have a 6 yr old and 14 yr old. We have done it before where my and the twins sleep in one bed (sometimes its me and the 3 little ones) and the 6 and 14 yr old sleep with Dad. Im not worried about sleeping space Im worried about getting caught LOL. And the early entry ticket to Mickeys Toon Town.

Oh Ok, thanks for the warning. This was my first time posting here. I probably wont do it. I just wanted to know what would happen if I was caught. But thanks

As sonnyjane mentioned, discussing "cheating Disney" is frowned upon here and this thread will probably go - poof - very soon, but before it does...

Okay, so, I'm going to play "meanie" for a second.

So, if it's wrong, if it's lying, but you were to be told by someone here that if you get caught nothing happens, then it's okay?

There are ethics questions raised all the time on these boards:
- Is it okay to say my 3 year old is 2 so we don't have to pay? (S/he's only 2 weeks over the cutoff.)
- Is it okay to put my child in high shoes so s/he can ride ____ for the first time because s/he's "just" below the height requirement?
- I have twins so they really count as one. So is it okay? (I know, you didn't say it that way - I was trying to be a little funny. :goodvibes)

Bottom line is: It's against the rules.

And if for no other reason, how about this scenario: As mentioned above, room limits are set by fire marshals. If there were an earthquake and 5 people were safely rescued from a room where the front desk records shows 5 guests, but the 6th person is stuck under rubble, no one would go looking for the 6th person because - technically - the 6th person isn't there.

In the end, of course, it's your call, as is everything in life. However, if 6 in a room for 5 is okay, where do we draw the ethics line?

JMO,
Dreams

P.S. Welcome to the DISBoards!

This is were the frugalness (cheapskate) comes out in me. Why not just price 2 rooms across the street? Plenty of room for everybody and you might save some $$ to boot. :confused3

(is frugalness even a word?)

They are probably putting you in a suite, yes? Have you checked out booking two rooms?

Or just enjoying that suite? We were upgraded (chosen for Big Kahuna family of the day) to a suite at PPH, and my goodness it would have been very enjoyable if our trip had been longer and if we could have enjoyed that big room!

Speaking of PPH, have you considered checking there? Might be a little less expensive.

Honestly, you want them to know how many people are in the room. If a fire were to break out and things got hectic, you WANT them to know that there are x number of children in there to get out, not x-1. Seriously.

I have priced it for 2 rooms and I have priced other Hotels in the surroding areas. We are more then likely going to go with the Clairon its only $1500, Ill save the $400 to use in the park. I was just wondering really what the hotel would do if I booked the room with 5 and there were 6 of us. I would rather stay at DLH but having the extra $400 to play with in the park will be more fun. Thats a trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique with the works. Thanks for all the replies.

Aside from what everyone else has said about fires etc, do you really think it's okay to lie? Ever? Is this what you want to teach your children?

Everyone is always saying how our children have no respect - guess why? Because their parents don't!

You are supposed to provide an example for your children - and you do! Is it good or bad? Truth or lie?

Why shouldn't you pay more for more people!?!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves for condoning lying!:sad2:

One year my family of 5 booked a room at DLH. We had 2 Q + daybed room, which was plenty for us. The kids were 6 and 4-year-old twins.

At the last minute, oldest dd (who was 24) was able to meet us for 2 nights. We told the front desk about the situation and they just told us to have her stay in our room. It *is* against policy, but it isn't because the hotel cares or even that it's a safety issue other than the fact that it supposedly gives the hotel an accurate count of the number of people. It's simply an arbitrary figure that the state/county/city is required to come up with. For instance, how do they know, if there is some sort of catastrophic event, that you didn't have friends in your room? That isn't disallowed.

I feel your pain. In so many ways, parents of twins get whammied left and right.

We do, with birthdays and christmas and stuff like that. I have less people show up to my girls birthdays cuz of having to give 2 gifts, but people dont consider that when both my girls go to a party they each give a gift. Its frustrating. BUT I LOVE HAVING MY TWINS!!

Thanks for your answer though. I am just to honest and I would feel horrible the whole time I was there. I would be afraid of being caught. LOL Thats great that they let your oldest stay with you for 2 nights.

I have read where people have like 10 or more in one room. Thats just NUTS lol. I dont know how people can do that LOL.

everyone lies. Esp in this bad economy, everyone will do whatever it takes to survive.

But that really brings me a curiosity on why an extra 1 person will cost an extra $3000. IT makes no sense unless they put you in a bigger room/suite like one of the disboard members said.

i would look into it honestly, it doesnt add up.

I have looked into it and they do put you in a suite. I think $5000 is a little high for a suite. I dont have that kind of money. I totally understand why they have to put you in a bigger room but I really think they could find a room that isnt as expensive. Oh well I guess thats how they gotta make their money. The more I think about it the more I think Ill just stay at a good neighbor. Its $400 less anyway.

how old are your twins? I hope it works out for you. :)

The Hojo is right across the street and from what I have read on these boards in the past, the same amount of walking distance to the front gate as it is from the DLH. Why not save yourself a bunch on money and have plenty of extra room by staying across the street? They plenty of options that will fit your family and be a heck of a lot cheaper to. It makes no sense to squeeze too many people into a room really designed for 4 anyway and even at 4, it's still a tight fit. Plus if you're caught, Disney will make you buy another room, move to a suite, or can even evict you if they choose that route.
