My husband is 73 and I’ll be 70 this year. We have over 1400 points already but just this week bought OKW on resale. We negotiated a good price and the contract just went to Disney. Why at our age? When we have so many points?

OKW is our fav resort and we don’t have points there

We have been lucky enough to book out 7 months using points from other resorts but I’m concerned about the mania about star wars and want to make sure we can

We go for two weeks every April in a one bedroom which uses over 300 points. We only bought 275 points but I hope we’re ok to book as many days as we can with our new points and then add on At 7 months with others.

We have a disabled adult daughter and we bring her and her disabled friend with us. They adore OKW and the activities personnel. When we are gone our points are solely designated for her use.

While the contract expires in 2042 we are healthy and hope to make good use of our points.

Now we can use our other points to book other times and places. We like to go two or three times a year. We rarely go to parks because we love the resorts.

We have aulani points and go for ten days in may. We don’t quite have 500 or enough for 10 days in a one bedroom ocean view but now we can easily pull from our other points. We can always book aulani at 7 months because of the time we go.

And most importantly we can afford to pay cash.

Can’t wait for closing unless Disney screws us up!

Good luck on ROFR! I remember reading about someone who spent an entire year visiting their timeshares, including DVC. We have pets so we can't do that.

Ah the joys of retirement! I only wish I could travel as much as you. But alas we am in the midst of working full time, 3 kids and a dog. What you are doing is hopefully what we will be able to do once we are empty nesters.

1400 points - MF bill must be pretty hefty (I'm guessing around $10K per year) but I guess compared to what you have to pay booking through Disney it is probably a steal for all the stays you have throughout the year.

And you are not crazy. You are living the dream many of us have. Enjoy it while you can.

Good luck!! We didn’t buy until our early 50’s. We have 559 and recently talked about that “if X happens maybe we’ll buy some more points” :). We hope to still be booking those 2 week stays when we are 7x too!

Oh, I wouldn't call you crazy. My mom was 68 when we first bought in, back in 1992. She got 19 years of visits, twice a year, before she passed. We both loved OKW, and I still go there more often than any other resort. Enjoy while you can, if you can afford it. You only live once.

Great for you! Some are snowbirds for a few months in winter which is pricey! Enjoy!:thumbsup2

Enjoy your new home! If we had the wherewithal, I could see us adding on at BWV or buying at OKW like you. We too just like to relax now!

Good for you! We are 10 years your junior and we will probably add more in the future. DVC is such a senior friendly timeshare that we see ourselves being able to use our DVC until we are in our 80's.

Congratulations! I can't wait to do the same thing. I know you'll enjoy your stays at OKW.

Good luck. So nice of you to take your daughter's friends with you. :)
